It appears that roughly 41 percent of Catholic voters may have voted for Harris. The real story here, then, should be that there is a sizable portion of the voting population that is incorrectly identifying as Catholic.

Several media outlets have touted the significance of the Catholic vote in propelling President Donald Trump to victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. PJ Media’s report accurately suggested that it should have been a given that Catholics could not vote for Harris:

“It turns out that skipping the Al Smith dinner, touting no exceptions for abortion, and insulting Jesus Christ were not good campaign strategies for Democrat VP Kamala Harris. Exit polls indicate Donald Trump might not only have won the Catholic vote but won it by a staggering margin. Harris did everything she could this campaign season to belittle Catholics and emphasize her total disregard for freedom of religion. From locking up pro-lifers to breaking a years-long tradition of presidential candidate attendance at a major Catholic dinner, Kamala made it perfectly clear that she did not respect American Catholics nor believe they have a right to disagree with her views in the public square.”

Despite all of this, it appears that roughly 41 percent of Catholic voters may have voted for Harris. The real story here, then, should be that there is a sizable portion of the voting population that is incorrectly identifying as Catholic — while Catholics might have abstained from voting for Trump in good conscience, no Catholic could have voted for Harris in good conscience.

Imo, the American Catholic Church is experiencing a serious identity crisis.
She is not unified; she is very divided. Not one church at all.

She is easily two churches ... as we see demonstrated by the very opposing opinions posted in this forum.
And then there are those 'in the middle' .... the ones who go this way and that.

Not so unlike American politics, I see the American Church divided.

I do not find fault with those who lean leftist ... progressive ... and vote Democratic.
Afterall, since Vatican II, that is what has been most visibly present before most of us.

I also don't celebrate Republican voters as the lawful, righteous ones, nor do I see the middle folks as the innocent, holy ones.

I do not blame any for the catechesis they did or did not receive, or the modernist things they were and are being taught.
(I see that as a leadership issue within the Church.)

And who is to say 'what Church' is 'right' now, since even the pope is confusing in his words and ways?
(At least I find him to be very confusing.)

Since Vatican II, the Catholic Church has become very inclusive, and modern.
Since we are a blend of both old and new, I think it best then not to judge anyone. And definitely not for the way they voted.
We coexist as one Church, with all our differences, but are not one.
I can hope we are at least 'one' in our love for Christ.

Everything is grace.
That means we don't think more highly of ourselves than others.
That means we know that any good we do is done by the grace of God.
Even Brother Lawrence spoke about this ...
He knew he was a natural born sinner. He knew he could do nothing better without God.
Brother Lawrence walked in humility. He knew who he was, and he knew who God was.

For whatever spiritual enlightenment one might have ... it is a gift from God.
And therefore, nothing to boast about.

They are probably in mortal sin and need to repent, in my opinion.
If they voted for her because of her position on abortion, then yes.
If they voted for her in spite of abortion, no.

Let's face it. It was a terrible choice to be forced into so i think culpability is diminished for the later.
Still the American Solidarity Party seemed to me the morally acceptable vote even if it had to be written in.

It is unfortunate, that we are no longer living in a very moral Country.
There are still pockets of morality, but clearly our society is returning to paganism.
So candidates like Sonski? They really don't stand much of a chance, unless America experiences a spiritual revival.
I am very much hoping for that, and praying.

I would like to see higher profile Republicans and Democrats cross over into it. That would raise awareness of it.

You could be right.

And while I don't blame persons for the way they vote, God is the final judge. And I'm glad that He is.

Did anyone see the parody she had made about Catholics on SNL about the Al Smith dinner she didn't attend?
Insulting to say the least.
Made Catholic school girls look stupid.
