Yesterday, 3 September 2021, my father (who adopted me at the age of 13) passed away in hospital.

May light perpetual shine upon him and may he rest in peace.

Im sorry, be filled with God’s comfort. And may Jesus be your light in darkness.

How are you Graham? Missing your posts and your music on your new piano. I had my Kemble tuned today. :)

Hiya.
Thanks for the post and for the prayers.
I came back from Norfolk yesterday. It's been a very busy week trying to sort everything out.
I now have a date for the funeral and have been having a chat with the rector at the local church to sort out an order of service.
Came home to receive lots of cards including one from the hospital chaplaincy.

Question to any and all, why do piano keys stick on older units?
Not being played and no doubt full of dust. The strings get full of dust also. :)
It may be a problem with the tabs internally, or a pencil stuck inside, even honey etc.
Anything can happen to pianos ...

Oh! I suppose that would explain why about half of the keys don't have a strong note then and most of those don't even want to bounce back up. I suppose we are talking about detailed work a professional alone would qualify for?

I would always take off the front of the piano and have a look to see if there is an easy answer. and then, yes a professional to put it right, give a quote on any maintenance work required and tuning. Occasionally a 'viking funeral' is the kindest answer and an investment in a new instrument. :)

Yes, I suspect past being ready, although this one (my late Mother's) is one those 'player pianos' with a few dozen selections on rolls. I noticed they don't bring all that much on the web. Ordinarily, do these also qualify as a pricey piece of equipment to service?

I can ask my daughter Christine, I think she has one at her music academy. She collects instruments. :)

'Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory.'

It's 82 right now in Las Vegas---it's the start of Autumn now!!
We are well into Autumn, in the UK with a lawn full of leaves. Apples on our trees and a lovely sun that isn't too hot. :)
