Just who does she think she is?
She must've bumped her head to
Believe that she's some sort of river princess
Or something, to flow through me like that
All awash with her pleasantries
Demanding that I jostle down her streams
Knowing that there are plenty of other tributaries
Out there, flowing just as beautifully, into the sea
My own deep aspirations and sense of wonder
Whirling, helplessly, into her fluvial pull
Doesn't she know that I too am a force?
That I have my own turbulent rule?
My own course is to be reckoned with
Her meanderous ways are no match for my pith
And she will hear and feel the full weight of my roar
And make haste to her safer and pleasanter shores
When I flow free from all of her draw
And take my full-force plunge over the cliffs
