i have heard Jesus was more of a wood carver due to shortage of wood in Nazareth. Could this be true?

you're looking at the externals and not at the provision of God.

If God, the creator of the Earth chose for His son to be a carpenter, the suposed son of a carpenter, don't you think that God would be able to supply both of them with enough wood to earn a living?

The word being translated "carpenter" really means "builder". The materials he used probably were a mixture of wood and stone.

As pointed out in post #5, it's a broader word than that.

Specifically, the greek word is "tecton", which means "laborer" or "common worker" - not just "carpenter".

Today that word would mean anything such as "construction worker", ditch digger, field hand, lawn mower guy, bricklayer, etc.

In my understanding "tecton" means not so much 'laborer' as 'workman' with the implication that there is a specific skill such as carpenter or mason or smith.

I once saw an argument that Jesus was was a stone mason. I don't remember how the word study went. Just checked, a web search for Jesus stone mason finds the idea. They program was also pointing out that Rome had a major building program going on at the time that would have needed a lot of stone smiths.
