Been studying some timelines from the ancient world and Noticed this in Genesis 11 after the scattering we have Shem linage.

22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
23 And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

Serug 30 years old when he begat Nahor then lived 200 years after his birth for a total of 230

24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
25 And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

Nahor was 29 when he begat Terah then lived another 119 years and begat sons and daughters for a total of 148 years. Now Terah's info is different, it doesn't follow the same form of his ancestors, the formula of:
  • Age of descendant of Noah at the time of their childs birth
  • how long they lived afterward.
Also it only mentions one child in the genealogy, until you get to Terah.

26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

It says Terah was 70 when he begat Abram, Nahor and Haran and the total of his years were 225 but there's no indication that there was a separate time between the boys.

Abram - first born?
Nahor - second born? married Milcah
Haran - youngest? died in Ur of the Chaldees had two sons mentioned, Lot and Iscah and a Daughter Milcah who married Nahor

Also interesting is that Terah named his second son, Nahor after his own father who was the son of Serug.

We see Terah taking, Abram, Lot, Sarai from Ur and went to the land of Canaan. It says they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

This is not said to be a city founded by Abrams brother
And what happened to Nahor?

And what happened to Haran?
You already told us what happened to him. He died leaving two sons and a daughter that married Nahor. Are you asking HOW he died?

Thanks for catching that, it's what happens when you don't re-read.

So back to the OP.

Was Abram a triplet?

And what Happened to Nahor?

(I've fixed it in the OP) :)

I suppose they could be triplets, but that is an assumption.

Nahor had a daughter named Rebekah who married Isaac. He also had a son named Laban who had daughters named Rachel and Leah who both married Jacob. Nahor eventually died, as do all men, but not before being instrumental in bringing forth the lineage of Messiah Yeshua.

Terah was 70 years old when he became Abram, Nahor and Haran. Gen. 11:26. They were simply not triplets, who was the oldest? That was Haran. Terah lived 205 years, and died! Gn 11:32. Abraham then left Haran he was 75 years old (Genesis 12: 4), and that makes Terah 130 years old when Abram was born! Then Abram was born, when Terah 130 year, or when Terah was 70 years old? Here is seen 60 years seen! Who was the oldest brother can easily be determined. Van Nahor is said that he married a daughter of Haran. From that that Haran was older than Nahor, which was Haran Abram's senior brother.

Shalom~! welcome to the forums.

Why would you say Haran was the oldest? The listing of names is with Abram first. The only way that Terah could have begotten Abram, Nahor and Haran with he was 70 yrs old was if they were triplets, I really don't see a way around that.

What if Terah just turned 70 when Abram was born and 11 months later his wife had twins (Nahor and Haran)?

That could work but I don't know of any other example where years as far as age are figured in when giving the age of the father. Also they could have had different mother as Abraham and Sarah were half siblings. But to me, as I wrote the formula used was changed for Terah which to me says, pay attention.

Tera could have had the sons (Abram, Nahor, and Haran) successively too or sons from different women (seeing that polygamy was tolerated). So, saying that they were triplet is just another possibiliy. Was Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Genesis 5:32) also triplets?...hhhmmm...scholars do not think so. The fact that names are mentioned in one sentence does not automatically suggest they are triplets.

Lulav, did you know that Sarah was the widow of Haran, and that Abvrᵊhəm was performing the obligation of of a Brother In-Law by taking (barren) Sarah as his wife.

One of my prize discoveries.
