  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello all,

I have a question that I’ve been wondering about for a while and wanted to ask you all. From your personal experience, can you tell me what, in your life or the life of a loved one close to you, what happens when you/he/she are “walking closely with God”? I mean, what does it look like for you and them? In other words, if I met you or them on the street and you were "walking closely with God" what would I observe? What is happening internally and externally? What would I see in your actions? Behaviors? Relationships? Conduct? More prayer? Fasting? Fellowship? Etc. Please do not limit you answers those above but add anything that you can note from your own experiences. Thank you all for your thoughts.

I had an experience with God while studying the Word of God and prayed that I could share it withe someone. Immediately the door bell rings. An encyclopedia salesman. I thanked the Lord in my heart and while I was telling him the inspiration I was given while studying the Word of God, God took over the conversation, and both of us were enraptured with what we were told. Now you must understand, I was doing the telling, but it wasn't me, it was God. The salesman's head started glowing as the inspiration flowed and he was enraptured. It was like seeing what Moses head looked like coming off Mount Sinai. It was a wonderful experience.

Confidence or a lack of stress about daily life. Peacefulness with the way things are in your life knwing that God has his hand on you and will supply all your needs. gentleness toward others, hard to rattle, patient when others are holding you up in some way and preventing you from getting where you want to go. Helpful or charitable, giving time and resource to help others. Love that is overflowing toward others such that you are an encouragement to them, not critical of them, not judgmental or "nit picky" about what they are doing or how they are thinking. Self is out of your frame of reference, the Lord is your light and you tend to see him in everything.

Oh to be exactly like that!

I have a few key people in my life that fit this description and I have always admired them.

I have much more to go.

Hello Visionary,

So you are saying that when close to God, you are given words from the Lord. God lives through you and reaches others with the words He gives you. Thank you Visionary.

Hi Charles YTK,

Confidence (lack of stress), peacefulness feeling like you are in God’s hands and He will supply all your needs, gentleness toward others, hard to rattle, patience, helpful/charitable, loving, encouraging, not critical/judgment/nit picky, God focused. Great reply, sir! Did I summarize that accurately? I’m sure I’ll have more questions/clarification as we go, but this is a great start. Thank you for putting in time to answer my basic question.

Hi Stone,

We all have a human nature and we are weak. At your conversion, what was different? What do you see differently in those in relationship with you when they get saved?

I don't know what conversion means? the only thing i've changed is that i study the bible and learn to become more and more Torah observant.

I don't know who is and who is not saved. I'm sure you would think, before the occurences that many of those congregational leaders that commit sins of child molestation are saved, but they will stand before g-d and will have to answer his questions and he will see their hearts. I believe that what they claim and appear to be, is not what they are. It reminds me of when Y-shua says to do as the Pharisee's say, but not as they do. These leaders are the same today as the Pharisee's spoken of here in the past, but that does not mean all of them, not at all.

There are some, as far as those closer to me, that leave a small sense of fear and attempt to distance themselves from. I don't hear about some of the goings on that was once shared with me, i preffer it that way as well.

I can't see anyone's heart to know if they will be saved to the end.

When Yeshua is invited in, as Paul explained, you become a new man, you are no longer living in a dying body but you are walking and living your life as the vessel of the everlasting life spirit of G-d that lives within you. Now you have the ability to quench that Spirit and turn from him and not allow Him to do that, and this also happens if you don't renew that everyday. To decide to follow him, each and everyday, to allow him to lead you in all things and in all your ways acknowledge him. when you do that those things I mentioned are what shows up on the outside, like a huge smile for the whole body.
But it really can't be explained, only experienced.

May I ask why all the questions? What are you searching for?

Hi Zayit,

I have been wondering about the whole idea of conversion and the work of God in our lives. My sibling had a huge transformation and was "on fire" for God. Many of my friends, Christians, start out that way then kind of lose some passion. I just read a book called, "The Slumber of Christianity" by Decker and he talks about Christians losing hope and becoming stagnant. I am looking for pragmatic, behavioral changes amongst Christian brother and sister to see if we can identify what it is that we are going (our part to this) when we are walking closely with God. What are we doing less of when not walking closely with God. I understand that it is God and not us, but we do make decisions and do institute various rituals/behaviors that are beneficial in our relationship with God and I want to know what they are. Just trying to learn.

Thanks,

Hi Connect,

My step-daughter and I were saved during the same summer 5 years ago. I fell headlong in love with Yeshua and she prayed the sinner's prayer. I couldn't go to church enough, read enough commentary and finally began reading the Bible for myself. My life turned upside down and inside out. She went to church and questioned everything; fell in with a very ultra liberal Christian church; has lost much of her first love and has no fruit to show for her conversion. She doesn't read the Bible, doesn't read commentary, dislikes Christian music, yet will discuss her "doubts" and "crisis of faith" with anyone who will listen. Its' sad. :(
