Like with any universal theory, it's hard for people to picture it in their minds, so here I'm going to attempt to form a clear mental picture of Cosmological Quintessence by making a series of comparisons to things the human brain already does understand... I do believe we have the capacity, as humans, to understand Cosmological Quintessence in it's fullest, but I think it can only be done by using science and philosophy together... So let's begin the process.

Cosmological Quintessence is an "outward Expression"... It is the opposite of gravity, which clings things together, as Quintessence is the Force responsible for the expansion of the universe.

Because if sound has quintessencential properties, then maybe so does our desire to influence others, as well as our desire become part of a larger community... In fact, maybe life itself, building up and growing, is somehow related to the force of quintessence. Which is inherently an expansive force.

...So if Quintessence is a kind of "outward" expression, unlike gravity (which is inward), then is sound related to Quintessence? Since sound waves project outward?

Sound waves are oscillations in the pressure of the air.
Light waves are oscillations of the electromagnetic field.
Water waves are oscillations of the surface of the water.
Gravitational waves are oscillations of space-time.

None are related to any quintessence.

Perhaps Spinoza's notion of conatus, our inherent striving to persist in being, is relevant. Striving underlies all that we are. Striving, by its nature, is an outward expression. You never know.

Quintessence is a dynamical scalar field (a 'fifth force'). Sound is a compression wave. So no, they're not related.
