  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

We must remember that there is another part to a system in need of reform, prosecutors that proceed with a case despite the facts showing otherwise are a big problem. Body cameras are meaningless if you ignore what actually happens in them, especially if you ignore police misconduct (i.e., false testimony).

Hmmm. Nothing new in "oink oink." I remember that back in the mid and late 1960s.

    Disrespectful? Yes. Inciting violence? NO.

Narrow minded officers like these need to be civilized. Verbal attacks SHOULD NEVER be faced with physical attacks in any way (if the victim attacked them verbally in the first place). Painful to see such a terrible police state there where officers think they are some sort of a higher class of humans that can never be mocked.

I believe that speech should be free no matter what, even if it is offensive. (except if it induces violence, like "let us harm person X" or "let us attack group Y")

Basically the suspect was arrested for “Contempt Of Cop”. “Resisting arrest” is what they say when they have nothing concrete.

Sounds more like defamation of character?

Look at the definition of defamation:

    Defamation Defined
Defamation is a false statement someone makes about you, which they publish as a statement of fact, and which harms your personal and/or professional reputation or causes you other damages, including financial loss and emotional distress.

"A statement that is merely someone's opinion is not defamatory, unless it is presented as if it were a fact. If someone writes, "It seems to me that John Smith is a crooked politician," that most likely is protected opinion. Courts do not want to hinder public speech, even about controversial subjects, so opinions generally are protected speech. However, if the statement is "John Smith is a crooked politician," and it is not a true statement, it may be defamatory. It is a fine distinction to bear in mind, but an important one."

Blue lives matter, they risk their lives to protect the community, it a stupid joke, yet maybe some education like a ride along to show the kid the risks a cop takes everyday would been a better route.

Confucius say, don't say oink oink to police officer.

We already know what could happen in this day and age, and that the Police do all kinds of things that are illegal and usually get away with it, so why do something like that?

I can understand standing up for our rights, and to even go so far as to test them by creating a situation, but the officer, wrong as he may be, that was provocative. Now they can take it to court, figure it all out, pay tons of money to lawyers, but is it really worth all that.

If other police officers took heed "if" a case like that went in a favorable direction, then it might be worth it, but i suppose in the end, we'd have to ask the victim if or not it was.

And this is coming from that hard core hippie from the 60's/70's who has actually done that. Not sure still if he heard me. My, how people change. :)

Disrespect for anyone is wrong, but it’s legal free speech.

People have a right to criticize and even ridicule the government. They should not be punished in any way for doing so. Many jobs are more dangerous than law enforcement too.

Not really, you know that cops risk their lives everyday, they never know when they go to the domestic abuse scene if the abusive wife, or husband have a gun, they never know if the prison gang capos are ordering hits on them from inside the prisons, whatever the ghetto thug who don't want to go back on a third strike, shoots them in the head, or the crazy drug addict might stab them with a AIDS infestested needle, or the crazy guy on the roof with a gun might hurt himself or others. A Cop job is dangerous, there are corrupt, and bad cops, that human nature as a result of the fall, yet the majority are heros, true winners.

Huh? Did the guy publish something calling specific cops pigs? Calling people names isn’t defamation, if it was we’d all be guilty.

I'm guilty sure. I judge people which is a sin. And I'm working on it. But calling public servants pigs, appears extreme to me. Like you don't like the public servants I picked. And I being in authority over you, if I was a judge, is with the bible teachings. Which I'm not.

Yes, really. Cops rank 14th in most dangerous jobs. Construction work, roofing, and logging are all more dangerous.

It downplays the risk to our boys in blue, without law enforcement, most cities would turn into jungles, a bunch of Chicago's, Oakland's or East LA's across the nation with the hoodlums extorting the civilian population.

It may be extreme to you but it’s legal free speech and it’s absolutely not defamation. The police in my city are corrupt and unnecessarily violent. They’ve killed a number of mentally ill people unnecessarily and steal homeless people’s property. They teargas peaceful protesters after kettling (trapping) them. They’ve been busted associating with white supremecists. I don’t think they are serving the public equally and fairly.

It’s just numbers, and numbers don’t lie. I’m not saying law enforcement should be abolished, I’m saying law enforcement should not be corrupt and act like a bunch of thugs. I’m personally terrified of the police.
