but Clark's scripturalism will never go outside of the Bible and VanTil will sometimes give ground and retreat to evidential.
Just a quick note, epistemologically there is a world of difference between them. That is, their claims as to what and how we know, and the extent to which we can understand God. Van Til did not retreat to evidentialism, I believe he would say something along these lines...that knowledge outside of the Bible is God's knowledge first, and when we make a truthful observation outside of Scripture, we are as it were, thinking God's thoughts after Him. One especially powerful and truthful insight into this, is that God gets all the glory, it is faithful to the omniscience of God we learn from Scripture, and because God is all knowing, He knew everything first and knows reality exactly as it it (while our knowledge is analogical, not exactly as God knows), we cannot get a one up on God, we cannot even have an original thought...though men would like to think otherwise. Check out the link in my previous post, we get into the differences between them.
