I wrote this as a direct correlation to the Gospel.

Summer was over and a new school year started at Jazzhall elementary. There was a playground there that all the kids would hope to have so that the long and tiresome days wouldn’t be so tiresome.

As the school year began the kids got back into the swing of things and recess time was greatly appreciated by everyone but there was a going trend by this time of a bully. Now Bully James was getting a name for himself and he was known as being the biggest and oldest of the students at Jazzhall. You might think lightly of it but it wasn’t rare for kids to go home with bruises and sad faces, unwilling to talk to parents about it because they were being shamefully shoved or beaten at recess.

Lot’s of kids became accustomed to basically bowing at his presence. Even James got accustomed to being worshiped around school because there was just no equal to his size and strength.

One day, there was a student named Micheal. He got excused from class to get a drink from the drinking fountain.

“Ms. Flukestead, can I please go get a drink in the hallway from the drinking fountain?”

“Sure Michael, but come right back. You have five minutes. Get the hall pass next to the pencil sharpener.”

Micheal jumped out of his seat and hummed and skipped into the empty quiet school.

He bent over and watched the water jet up into the air. His cheeks puckered at the first touch of cold water. It felt so good to his dry throat. “Thank you Ms. Flukestead,” he thought to himself.

Unlucky for Michael James was late to school that day.

It was too much for James to keep going and he got a hankering to be mean. Michael had just nearly gotten enough when he was torn from the fountain.

Micheal fell to the ground. When he saw it was James he crawled away and ran back to class. Micheal slipped the hall-pass back into its spot and slumped back into his desk. The only thing he wanted to do was to grow another five feet and beat James up. But since that would never happen Micheal would keep it to himself.

The semester of school wained on and there were more attacks from mr. evil.

It was another beautiful day at recess for the kids and the girls were playing some heavy four square out in the lot.

“Orange! Blue! Red!” Purple!” The ball traversed from one block to another with intellectual awareness!

James would have non of it. He snarled at the thought of these girls having this much fun. He couldn’t stand it. So he got in the middle and grabbed the ball. Then to their dismay, he football punted it into the field.

“Hey, one girl cried. We were playing with that!”

James laughed and laughed and laughed.

They were so sad inside that someone would even want to do something like that.

As time went on, it was as if the school was crying. There was no audible sound of it but the the hinges in the doors were moaning, the engines in the cars were yelling and the the whole building was basically crying out.

Young John just bought a fresh bag of Cheetos form the cafeteria. He had waited in line for it seemed a long time and he was thoroughly ready for his favorite snack. He pulled the two seems apart and let the bag air into his nose. Then out of no where a hand comes zipping over his shoulder and grabs the bag. It was James. He breathed in the bag himself. Walking over to the trash can James turns the bag over and lets the Cheetos, one by one, fall into the barrel.

Now low and behold, off into the corner of the Cafeteria another stout 5th grader was watching. Watching and waiting! It caught his eye. He had been observing James off and on that first semester and it gave him compassion to finally do something.

He came up to John and said, “John can I buy you some more Cheetos?”

John was delighted! “Sure!”

So the intercessor bought the Cheetos for John and held them up in the air so that James could clearly see it and handed them to John. The two big 5th graders snagged eyes together that day and they departed the lunch room for a later time.

The next few weeks went on like this. Where there was James, there was the intercessor. The intercessor was even getting a name for himself. It was big man Charlie. Soon, whenever there was James picking on someone there came Charlie right there to protect him or her. The school started to love Charlie and James was getting angry.

The sun had come up around Jazzhall one morning and all the kids were out to recess. James was picking on a few kids as he was use to and so likewise Charlie came to the rescue. James said to Charlie, “Well if you are such a big guy then why don’t you fight me yourself?”

Charlie said, “James, I don’t fight. If I did, I would be like you.”

James slapped Charlie in the face and it turned red.

All the kids in the playground began to crowd around.

“How about now?” James Asked. Charlie was very reluctant to do anything physical. For one thing it was a very bad influence on the younger kids. For another Charlie was just better than that.

James threw another hand at Charlie’s face and Charlie had to make a decision.

Charlie decided he would try to put James in a head lock. At least that way he would calm the situation down until a teacher could come out. James maneuvered out of it and slugged Charlie in the side. Charlie lost breath and came to his knees. James hit Charlie in the face and head. James lost control and gave him blow after blow. The kids were really piling up now. Some were cheering but most of them were crying. Finally a teacher caught word. A couple of hours went on and the school day ended. James was sent home but Charlie was sent to a hospital. The teaching staff decided to suspend James for a week.

The rumor spread that, Charlie would never come back to Jazzhall again. He was going to get homeschooled. This brought even the teaching staff sadness and anxiety to think about. On top of this, they even heard that after the week was over, James would return. This was the going rumor. If you thought the school moaned and groaned on its hinges before, it really did now.

So a few days later a few of this kids got an idea. Among the kids, Micheal, John and a few others decided to start a petition.

They got up early each morning before class.

“Hey can you read this and sign here if you agree?”

“Hi can you please sign here if you like what you see?”

“Hi guys! If you read this and sign your name! We are starting a petition!”

One by one, little by little. Most of the school signed the petition!

It was sealed and sent to Charlies Hospital bed. It read,

Dear Charlie, The staff and students at Jazzhall elementary have all signed a petition. We not only want you to come back to Jazzhall for the year but we have decided to expel James the school bully permanently.
