  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  3. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  4. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  5. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  6. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  7. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Very Strange Visions I've Had For Some Time

Since about 6 years ago I've seen images of half naked women constantly. I've taken at least 3 or 4 medications since then and they just don't go away. If I stop taking pills at any point I feel constant stress that eventually leads to a psychotic break. I have no idea what to do with my life. I can't seem to get motivated on these pills but they are keeping me alive. What do I do?

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

Talk to your doctor. That’s the first thing.

I have a hard time trusting them. I came to the faith later in life and they told me at one point my faith is actually a symptom of mental illness. I'm just not sure I can trust them.

Well if you obsess and twist religion it can be a common denominator in those that suffer mental illness. It does not mean all people of faith are mentally ill. I’m sure that’s what was meant. When it comes to your medication you need to talk to the doctor.

Well they specifically stated that all converts are mentally ill. Anyone who doesn't stick with the religion they were raised with falls into this category.

It's not the only reason anyway. I just feel like there's this immense power imbalance that is ripe for abuse. They can for just about any reason decide I should be hospitalized, perhaps for the rest of my life. I'm honestly scared of them.

Hey Jay please don't heed fear, though it is understandable that you do. i'm in the same boat, also mentally ill, don't trust the doctors either, find it hard to feel safe at times.

What i did was thanking God for each and every day i was free from any abuses and bring Him my fears. Oh boy did that teach me some lessons. For Jesus' perfect love casts out fear, not me the fearful one, i'm set free not to have to be frightened any more.

Build with God's good things, faith, love, kindness, gentleness, self-control, joy, thankfulness, patience and the kind. The more of God's good life you digest this way the freer you will be to make something good out of your life, be it only praying for those who don't know God and are mentally ill without Him.

Please be of good courage. Jesus can do amazing things in our hearts and make us stronger than mental illness can bring our way.

Good medications help. At first i thought they were against God's will but each time i dumped them i went psychotic and made a mess of my life in just a few days of madness. The truth is i need medications to function well. Many people do, no shame in that. So hard to recover from psychosis best stay on meds.

Actively love God, yourself, as well as your neighbour. Love them like you love yourself. It makes life much less complicated. The more you walk in faith, love and hope the stronger against mental illness you will be.

    Let Scriptures truths guide you!

That is why love psalm 27 so much as well as psalm 91. Drink in those words and let them set you free from your fears.

I'm not sure how medical ethics and accountability are handled in Canada, but I'm sure there is some mechanism of oversight for doctors who seem to be acting contrary to their patients best interests. If you and an advocate (friend, parent, sibling, etc.) bring your concerns of any wrongdoing on the doctor's part to the attention of the proper regulatory board, I'm sure they would follow up to make sure your rights are preserved. My dad was a doctor in the U.S. and sometimes had to answer to such concerns filed by a patient. These boards do not immediately accept the doctor's explanation; they actually look into it.

Keep in mind that a power imbalance does not necessarily lead to abuse of that power.

I've spent much of my life dealing with my mom who battles mental illness. She's schizophrenic and has really bad episodes and delusions when she gets off her meds. I totally understand your caution, because I've had several very horrible encounters with doctors and don't fully trust them myself.

I would recommend seeking out a Christian doctor who deals with mental illness. It may be more difficult to find, but they are out there. I have friends who have Christian doctors. It'd be good to have the support of another believer who can not only help you with medication and things, but also someone who shares the same faith and can pray with you. Also along the same lines, I would suggest getting more involved with a local church body, if you aren't already. Find a pastor that will pray for deliverance and healing over your mental illness. Pray, draw near to God, meditate on and memorize comforting scriptures. You can also pray for healing yourself in your alone time. I'm sure others here will be praying for you too brother. God bless you.

Where do you see these women? What are they doing and can you interact with them? I have always felt that we cannot control what we feel, but we can control how we think. For example:
You are sitting in the sun. It is very bright, almost blinding and your face is very hot. You can feel the sun penetrating your skin and you are starting to break a sweat. You open your eyes enough to see the crisp blue ripples on top of the water at a swimming pool you are next to, and no one else is there. You stand and feel the hot ground almost burn your feet and you jump in, like slow motion, you hold your breath and wait for the water sensation to engulf you, quench your skin and soothe your temperature. It comes over you and you splash, come up for air and shake your head kicking gently and grabbing the side of the pool. You look around at the beautiful blue water and the hear the birds chirping playfully. You thank God for this moment because right now, in this instance you feel glorious to be alive.

In 2 minutes I took you to a completely different place and you never left the room. You can go there any time you like. You just redirect your mind and say " In the name of Jesus Christ, begone satan" and immediately feel that sun, and walk yourself through the clean cool water experience any time.
