Christians live in hope. They're expecting the revelation of their hope.
It's glory which they hold, it's an expectation which fills them, because Jesus has glory. At his coming this glory will be revealed before humanity. It'll be a glory of both God and Christ, he who took upon himself our flesh in order to gain salvation for us,
Christ will return in glory for humanity. So the Christians' expectation anticipates the time when they'll see their Redeemer, who gained salvation for all.
Christ offered himself as our Substitute. He brought his sacrifice, in order to save us from death, since we were by nature wrath's children.
He paid redemption's price. So he has redeemed us from the lawlessness in which we were caught by nature, from the sin which characterized us. By virtue, we're are no longer in sin. We're freed and cleansed from it.
We're a people, we belong to our Savior, we've been imbued with his power. Together with other believers, we strive after sanctification and the renewal of God's image in us. It's our endeavor to excel in such a life as will please God.
