Up to 1,000 children could have fallen victim to child sexual exploitation in Telford over a 40-year-period, according to a Sunday newspaper.

An investigation by the Sunday Mirror gathered allegations of abuse in the Shropshire town said to include cases involving girls as young as 11 who were drugged, beaten and raped.

Up to 1,000 children may have been victims in worst UK abuse ring

More details can be found at the Telegraph:

The newspaper's probe alleges that social workers were aware of the abuse in the 1990s, but that it took police a decade to launch Operation Chalice, an inquiry into child prostitution in the Telford area in which seven men were jailed.

It is also claimed that abused and trafficked children were considered "prostitutes" by council staff, that authorities did not keep details of abusers from Asian communities for fear of being accused of "racism" and that police failed to investigate one recent case five times until an MP intervened.

1,000 children may have been victims in Britain's biggest ever child abuse scandal

Just... wow... Terrible.

In the UK, "Asian" most commonly means "South Asian" (i.e. from the Indian Subcontinent).

This horrifying incident in Telford seems to be a replay of events in Rotherham, Yorkshire. There authorities were also aware of the child abuse going on and did nothing at all about it, because they did not want to be seen as "racist."

FROM THE ARTICLE:
"Det Ch Insp Neil Jamieson described many of the girls as "particularly vulnerable". He said they were groomed, receiving presents such as mobile phones to build up a sense of trust.

"What they would do is drive them around, they would ply them with alcohol, drugs, buy them things, and it would almost be a boyfriend-girlfriend scenario initially."

...How extremely deceitful! It's not like these girls volunteered themselves into prostitution, they were tricked. What kind of sick twisted mind could take such advantage of young girls by using their most pure emotions as leverage.

...This is almost as despicable as those people who chop off heads and disregard the rules of engagement / war... This is the same mind... The same culture.

...We don't want these traits mixing in here in the U.S. Too bad Trump didn't also ban Pakistani's from coming here, as that is where these monsters are from.

Pakistani-origin 'sex gangs' target white girls in UK: Report - Times of India
  • Quilliam looked at 58 cases of grooming gangs identified in the UK between 2005 and 2017, which led to 264 convictions.
  • They discovered that 222 of those convicted, or 84 per cent, were men of Asian origin and mostly of Pakistani heritage.

The bigoted insinuations by some in this thread is rather illuminating because human trafficking and abuse of children is not relegated to a particular religion or culture. These despicable men are about as representative of South Asian/Pakistani/Muslim people as Jared Fogle is representative of white men.

Sure...but it does seem that one cultural group seems to be engaging in this particular crime more than others...and it would be a remarkable coincidence if their cultural views on women had nothing to do with it.

There is a definite disregard for non-Muslim females by Muslim men. It is cultural. And has its roots ultimately in how Muhammad himself treated and encouraged / permitted his Ummah to treat non-Muslim women.
Considering the American president, Americans should not be talking about how Muslims look at women.

Human trafficking is a world wide phenomena that involves billions of dollars and 100 000's of women, and involves small groups of individuals all the way through to international organised crime.

Turning it into a Muslim bash, and saying stuff like:

Sure...but it does seem that one cultural group seems to be engaging in this particular crime more than others...and it would be a remarkable coincidence if their cultural views on women had nothing to do with it.

is an insult to most of these victims, apart from being untrue.

Yeah but we aren't talking about the "worldwide" problem...we're talking about the UK problem. You're trying to conflate two different issues.

I'm conflating sex trafficking with sex trafficking? how silly of me.

600 Albanian women trafficked to the UK
Human trafficking: Poor women and girls targeted in Albania

Here's another 13000
The UK is now home to hundreds of human traffickers — and business is booming

But yeah, definitely mostly Pakistani Muslims.

If we're trying to understand the problem of gang related sex trafficking in the U.K....then talking about worldwide trends is either a deliberate attempt to draw attention from the problem, or plain stupid.

If you doubt this, then explain what insights worldwide trends in sex trafficking can give to the sudden increase of this crime in the UK?

There's a sad irony to this when an article says that people are afraid of naming what communities this has become a problem in because they don't want to be labeled racist....and then when a poster points out what communities this is a problem in, other posters call it racist.

The two links I provided were for the UK. I thought that was plain...

And when, as is actually the case, you point out a single case and then without evidence claim it's a particular community's problem, that actually is racist. It's also sad, but sadly not ironic.
