There are other incidents which scientists are seriously concerned about happening between now and 2050. If the scientists are correct, these incidents could have a seriously detrimental effect on the entire world population.
One that they have been concerned with for years is the gradual increase of this planet's axial tilt. The angle of that tilt is supposed to be 22.5 degrees on its axis. But satellites have measured a gradual increase that has been happening over a period of millennia. They have come to realize due to this increase that the metal core at the center of this planet is not a perpetual gyroscope continually correcting our axial tilt, but rather a self-correcting gyroscope which brings this planet back to its correct angle in response to a cataclysmic event.
It is suspected that this has caused disastrous events such as the one that froze almost instantly the siberian mastodon and hurled an entire herd of mastodons against a cliff with sufficient force to dismember them before dropping their carcasses at the cliff's base. This would have occurred as a result of a windblast that was far greater than any hurricane we have ever witnessed. Scientists theorize that for a windblast to be that powerful, it would almost have to occur as a result of the planet's either stopping its rotations or becoming so erratic in its rotations that it culminates in the planet itself going sideways, much like a child's top before in falls over, while the atmosphere and the water continue on their original course. With a rotational speed of over 1,000 miles per hour, that could wreak havoc quite well.
And this is what they are concerned about happening in 2012. The sun's being seen by us as being in the center of the Milky Way will be caused by the steepness of earth's axial tilt, rather than its being due to the sun's actually moving to that position. And shortly afterward, that steepness will be corrected by the earth's metal core, returning this planet to its correct angle. But what will trigger that corrective action, what will be occurring on the surface of this planet until that correction is completed, and the length of time it will take to complete that correction on the axial tilt, are all questions which quite frankly worry scientists who have done the math.
As if that weren't enough, astronomers have also identified an asteroid headed this way. In April, 2029, it will pass by earth so closely that it will literally be inside the orbit of our moon (240,000 miles). Should it miss us, there is also the mathematical possibility that it will return on April 13, 2035.
