This is a interesting development...

"The UN has called for international help to fight huge swarms of desert locusts sweeping through east Africa.

A spokesman for the UN's Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), called for aid to "avert any threats to food security, livelihoods, malnutrition".

Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are all struggling with "unprecedented" and "devastating" swarms of the food-devouring insects, the FAO has said.

The agency fears locust numbers could grow 500 times by June.

Ethiopia and Somalia have not faced an infestation on this scale for 25 years, while Kenya has not seen a locust threat this size for 70 years, the FAO said earlier this week. South Sudan and Uganda are also at risk if the swarms continue to grow and spread." Massive locust swarms spark UN appeal for help

"Swarms of locusts in east Africa have devastated crops and sent a passenger plane off course, and now the UN is warning that without international intervention the voracious insects threaten the food security of tens of millions of people." ‘Unprecedented’ Swarms of Locusts Are Devouring Crops and Slamming Into Planes in East Africa

signs of the times
Very true, but looks like we have reached the last days, but many have fallen in a slumber...
We the pneumonia epidemic caused by a coronavirus with many deaths and there is evidence of human-to-human transmission.

"Shanghai Disneyland shut down, hospitals pleaded for help, France reported three cases and the youngest victim so far was identified as a 36-year-old man in central China.

Chinese health authorities reported at least 15 new deaths in one day, raising the death toll to 41 — all in China"

Looks like the locust have spread to the Middle East, as it has hit Iran..

"Iran afflicted by large swarms of desert locusts, amid coronavirus woes

'The density of locusts in the swarms is so high that a 10 to 15-centimeter layer of dead locusts forms on the ground after spraying pesticides.'..

When I see something like this I like to break it down mathematically so I can visualize it.

Let's say the dead locusts cover 1 square mile. There are 27,878,400 square feet in 1 square mile. If we figure the depth of locusts at 6 inches deep that means there are 13,939,200 cubic feet of locusts on that square mile. If we make a solid, rectangular stack of locusts out of that number we have a pile of locusts 1/4 mile long, 105 feet deep, and 100.5 feet wide. That is one huge mass of locusts.

To move that volume of locusts with a standard dump truck, volume wise, at 14 cu. yards per load, it will take 36,876 dump truck loads to remove that pile of locusts. The total number of dump truck loads will be somewhat less but I haven't done any research into the exact volume of a dump truck bed, but the stardard/average dump truck can carry 14 cubic yards of dirt and it's bed is pretty full at that volume of dirt.

I have seen three locust swarms that turned the sky dark from 20 miles away. They were a real nuisance when the came down but they didn't eat all the grass, trees etc.

It looks like its spreading even more than just the Middle East...

"In East Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, traveling swarms of locusts the size of Manhattan are putting potentially hundreds of millions at risk of starvation in what the UN has called the worst outbreak in a quarter of a century.

What it means: "Millions will starve because clouds of approximately 80 million desert locusts per square kilometer are voracious," writes Robert Rotberg, founding director of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Program on Intrastate Conflict.

"In one day they consume wheat, barley, sorghum, or maize crops that feed 35,000 people. Masses the size of cities can consume 1.8 million metric tons of vegetation every day – enough to feed 81 million people."
"The United Nations is to test drones equipped with mapping sensors and atomizers to spray pesticides in parts of east Africa battling an invasion of desert locusts that are ravaging crops and exacerbating a hunger crisis."
The world's other plague: Locust swarms put millions at risk of starvation across Africa and Asia

It is the END TIMES. UNPRECEDENTED.

Or like they actually say

Ethiopia and Somalia have not faced an infestation on this scale for 25 years, while Kenya has not seen a locust threat this size for 70 years, the FAO said earlier this week.

Not apparently unprecedented and apparantly it was not end times last time this happened although I am sure there were plenty of people screaming the sky is falling then as well.

They use to swarm by the zillions in Arabia this time of year.. Some American Christian females were scared that it was the end of the world. The Arabs toasted them like parched peanuts. They swept them up to feed to livestock. Evidently the Arabs considered them a boon. Not surprised since John the Baptizer ate them.

And two lines later they said same thing happened few decades ago so clearly it was not unprecedented and treating it as such is foolish ?

That was their headline, not mine.

Sure, but you run with it like it was something extraordinary ...even unprecedented.

Something like .....ta dam ta dam.....the end times.

looks like we have reached the last days

Anyways, point being it is just another one of long line of disasters that humanity goes through every day and is in no way something new nor unique and it is baseless to treat them as harbringers of end days.

Locusts are not a sign of the end times. The locusts in Revelation are the Zealot, Sicarri, Idumeans and Galileans who savagely ran amok for 42 months killing Jews who wouldn't support their war with the Romans.. They were largely transvestite.

Real locusts are another matter. One year they came and they stayed until they had laid their eggs. It didn't take long until there were millions of larva that hatched and were unable to fly immediately. The streets were slick with green goo because cars squished them. The survivors finally grew wings and left. I don't ever remember a Spring that green in Arabia.

Here's why people are panic buying and stockpiling toilet paper to cope with coronavirus fears
These are the signs and the Bible tells us...
Luke 21:25-27 King James Version (KJV)
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

And it has become very intense, take a look just at the markets...
Chart of Wall Street’s ‘fear’ index in 2020 illustrates how unhinged stock markets have been over coronavirus compared to the 2008 crisis

"Dow drops 1,200 points to new low on the day after WHO declares coronavirus a global pandemic"...Dow drops 1,400 points and tumbles into a bear market, down 20% from last month's record close

Let's a take a look at the size of this locust swarm.

Back on the 8th of Februrary the swarms were estimated to contain 360 billion locusts and were 40 miles wide. That was then. Now? It's estimated that the swarms have grown to more than 2.5 trillion locusts. That's almost 7 times the size and number of locusts. That means those swarms can be as large as 280 miles wide. As it is estimated that a swarm of locusts the same size of the city of Paris, the same size as the swarms back on February 8th, can eat as much food a day as 1/2 the total population of France the current swarm can eat 3.5 times the food as the entire population of France, which is 65+ million people, every day.

Now just imagine 195 million people walking through a country and eating the food that the local people depend on until they walk across the entire country. I'd say that is a disaster of Biblical proportions. The locals would be starving after those 195 million people walked on to the next country.

The de minimis arguments in this thread mocking the size of this disaster seem to be nothing but trolling. They are based in ignorance.
