I agree. I also think the Church should take care of widows, orphans, and single moms.
James would agree, but the more money a religious organization gets, the needs of the poor are not addressed, laws are even passed to outlaw helping the poor.

That is being turned around in the USA.

Should Christians be politically united against abortion?

You might as well ask if Christians should be theologically united on the necessity of baptism for salvation. Different Christians will have different answers.

Christians will have different answers on the murder of a child in the womb? What kind of "christianity" is that?

No, one is about aborting a life, the other about baptism.

Considering that abortion is not mentioned even once in scriptures, perhaps Christians need to actually be united in following Jesus and his example, and it also probably wouldn't hurt to stop being so politically opposed to programs that help the poor.

There is a whole lot in scripture about God's displeasure over the ill-treatment of the poor by various nations, but somehow it's given little if no importance compared to controlling what goes on inside some other person's womb vs. actually helping people once they are born, and also helping to create healthy and safe environments for children to be born into. Instead, we have "Christians" fighting tooth and nail against every social program and safety net that helps people.

I rarely see anything actually pro-life about the so-called "pro-life" movement.

America has plenty of social programs to help the poor.

Where have you been? It's quite clear there are Christians on both sides of the abortion debate. Don't bother to say that one side isn't really Christian. That's the logical "no true scotsman" fallacy.
