Understanding The Lord’s Loving Kindness

Psalm 107:
41 He sets the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes families like a flock.
42 Seeing righteousness and rejoicing, all iniquity stops its mouth.
43 Whoever the wise will observe these, and they will understand
the Lovingkindness of the Lord.

1 Samuel 2:8. He raises the poor from the dust,
lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set among
princes and make them inherit the throne of glory.

Psalms 92:1-2
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O most High.
To shew forth Thy lovingkindness in the morning, and Thy faithfulness every night.

God's lovingkindness is the basis of His covenant faithfulness to His people.

Job 5:
11 He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.
12 He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans.
13 He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning comes quickly upon them.
14 They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope at noontime as in the night.
15 But He saves the needy from the sword, from the mouth of the mighty, and from their hand.
16 So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.
17 Behold! Happy the man whom God corrects; therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
18 For He bruises, but He binds up; he wounds, but His hands make whole.

Isaiah 25:
1 O Lord, You are my God.
I will exalt You,
I will praise Your name,
For You have done wonderful things;
Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
2 For You have made a city a ruin,
A fortified city a ruin,
A palace of foreigners to be a city no more;
It will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore the strong people will glorify You;
The city of the terrible nations will fear You.
4 For You have been a strength to the poor,
A strength to the needy in his distress.

Jeremiah 20:
9 Then I said, I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.
10 For I heard many mocking: Fear on every side! Report, and we will report it!
All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, Perhaps he can be induced;
then we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.
11 But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One.
Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail.
They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper.
Everlasting confusion will never be forgotten.
12 But, O Lord of hosts, You who test the righteous, see the mind and heart,
Let me see Your vengeance on them; for I have pleaded my cause before You.

13 Sing to the Lord! Praise the Lord! For He has delivered the life of the
afflicted from the hand of evildoers.

Psalm 12:5. For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy,
Now I will arise, says the Lord; I will set in the safety for which he yearns.

Proverbs 14:31. He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker,
But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy.

Psalm 9:
1 I will praise, O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
3 When my enemies turn back,
They shall fall and perish at Your presence.
4 For You have maintained my right and my cause;
You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.
5 You have rebuked the nations,
You have destroyed the wicked;
You have blotted out their name forever and ever.
6 O enemy, destructions are finished forever!
And you have destroyed cities;
Even their memory has perished.
7 But the Lord shall endure forever;
He has prepared His throne for judgment.
8 He shall judge the world in righteousness,
And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.
9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Psalm 69:
29 I am poor and sorrowful;
Let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high.
30 I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
31 This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull,
Which has horns and hooves.
32 The humble shall see this and be glad;
And you who seek God, your hearts shall live.
33 For the Lord hears the afflicted,
And does not despise His prisoners.
34 Let heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and everything that moves in them.
35 For God will save Zion
And build the cities of Judah,
That they may dwell there and possess it.

Psalm 9:
11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion!
Declare His deeds among the people.
12 When He avenges blood, He remembers them;
He does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
13 Have mercy on me, O Lord!
Consider my trouble from those who hate me,
You who lift me up from the gates of death,
14 That I may tell of all Your praise
In the gates of the daughter of Zion.
I will rejoice in Your salvation.
15 The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made;
In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught.
16 The Lord is known by the judgment He executes;
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

Isaiah 29:
13 Therefore the Lord said:
Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by
the commandment of men,
14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work among this people, a marvelous
work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.
15 Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, and their works
are in the dark. They say, Who sees us? and Who knows us?
16 Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the thing made say of him who made it, He did not make me?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, He has no understanding?
17 Is it not yet a very little while till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?
18 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book,
And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
19 The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord,
And the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

Psalm 72:
4 He will bring justice to the poor of the people;
He will save the children of the needy,
And will break in pieces the oppressor.
12 For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also,
and who has no helper.
13 He will spare the poor and needy,
and will save the souls of the needy.
14 He will redeem their life from oppression and violence;
and precious shall be their blood in His sight.

Jeremiah 22:
13 Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness
And his chambers by injustice,
Who uses his neighbor’s service without wages
And gives him nothing for his work,
14 Who says, I will build myself a wide house with spacious chambers,
And cut out windows for it, paneling it with cedar
And painting it with vermilion.
15 Shall you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink,
And do justice and righteousness?
Then it was well with him.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy;
Then it was well.
Was not this knowing Me? says the Lord.

1 Bow down Your ear, O Lord, hear me; for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my life, for I am holy; You are my God; save Your servant who trusts in You!
3 Be merciful to me, O Lord,For I cry to You all day long.
4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant,For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who
call upon You.
6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;And attend to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me.

Psalm 109:
21 But You, O God the Lord, deal with me for Your name’s sake;
Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.
22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
23 I am gone like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off like a locust.
24 My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness.
25 I also have become a reproach to them; they look at me, they shake their heads.
26 Help me, O Lord my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy,
27 That they may know that this is Your hand—You, Lord, have done it!
28 Let them curse, but You bless; when they arise, let them be ashamed,
But let Your servant rejoice.
29 Let my accusers be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their
own disgrace as with a mantle.
30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth;
Yes, I will praise Him among the multitude.
31 For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor,
To save him from those who condemn him.

Psalm 40:
16 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
Let such as love Your salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified!
17 But I the poor and needy; the Lord thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer;
Do not delay, O my God.

Psalm 140:
12 I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, justice for the poor.
13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in
Your presence.

Psalm 35:
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord; it shall rejoice in His salvation.
10 All my bones shall say,Lord, who is like You,
Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him,
Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?

Psalm 70:
1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me!
Make haste to help me, O Lord!
2 Let them be ashamed and confounded
Who seek my life;
Let them be turned back and confused that desire my harm.
3 Let them be turned back because of their shame,
Who says Aha, aha!
4 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
And let those who love Your salvation say continually,
Let God be magnified!
5 But I am poor and needy;
Make haste to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay.
