(Romans 14:12) Have you ever thought about what this will involve? It sounds like more than just saying you’ve accepted Christ.

Yep! Everyone has a spiritual ledger that will be audited come Judgement Day....and sometimes the auditor reviews your records even before that.

All your works will be judged, everything you do, and it will affect your place in the next world, but not the state of your salvation.

1Co 3:12-15 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

I believe this will involve an account of our love of others. Matthew 25:37-40, Matthew 25:44-45, 1 John 3:17-21, James 2:14-16. A person that doesn't love in deed is feigning love and faith: 2 Corinthians 6:6, 1 Peter 1:22, 1 Thessalonians 3:12: and love is what it is all about: John 13:34-35, 1 John 4:7: and so the cited passage is in a discourse about love of the brother which does not set stumbling stones in front of him:

Romans 14:13 So let’s stop criticizing each other. Instead, you should decide never to do anything that would make other Christians have doubts or lose their faith.

If you have genuinely believed in and entrusted yourself to Jesus, then you will want to do what he said, and will do your best to do so. Thinking one has accepted Jesus as their Lord and God, but not doing what he said reveals an intellectual assent, but not a real acceptance that the real God is your GOD.

accepting Christ is not with the mouth alone but rather the condition of your being which is exactly what romans 14:12 says. it is surely not as simple as "did you confess Jesus or not" but something more like "are you my son or not?"
