Thanks very much. Prayers are really appreciated. As for my husband, yes he has been tested and it came back really positive. So, that only means me! At least there is only one of us to worry about.

Just to let you all know that I had an operation about a month ago, which worked out ok. They took a look to see if my tubes were blocked, amongst other things. It looks like one of them is blocked. I go back today for a consultation to see what happens next. Please think of me.

I didn't cope very well a month ago, but I seem to be doing ok and not thinking about it much at the moment. How do you guys keep up beat about all this?

As I said earlier, I had an appointment to see the doctor...not that he was much good. He was so useless. He started off by talking about the procedure (and yes, it was a laparoscopy). He said that he think that the tube that may have been blocked was ok, and that it was just irritated by the procedure. The other one is fine. He also said that everything else was ok as well, and medically, there is nothing wrong that they can see and can't explain why things aren't working.

He then mentioned that the next step would be to put me on clomid tablets for three months, but he mentioned that because I am already ovulating well it probably won't work. He then mentioned IEF (which costs around £700) and then IVF after that (which costs £4,000+). But, he then saw that I didn't live in the area surrounding the hospital and that I wouldn't be able to be put on the IVF list, which is a 4 year wait anyway!

Ok, so why have I just wasted my time!! This really hasn't helped me. He then changed his mind about the Clomid and has prescribed my 6 months worth. The only information that he gave me was to take these tablets on the first five days of my cycle for 6 months and if it doesn't work to contact my GP to refer me to my closer hospital, and that there was no point in coming back to him as they can't do anything further for me. So, how useless was he?!?! VERY!

After speaking to a friend, she is going through the same thing, and knows others that have tried this drug with positive outcomes. She says that I need to take the drug between the 2nd and 6th day of my cycle, and that I am supposed to have blood tests to see if it works or not. Well, this doctor never said anything like this. She gave me a number to ring, which I have tried and am just waiting for a call back. I am also going to ring my GP and see if she can help at all.

I was just so upset after the appointment. I kind of though...why? What's the point? It was all for nothing and I feel I haven't got anywhere. I have been trying now for nearly 4 years, and I am giving myself until I am 30. If I haven't conceived by then, we will look at adoption.

Thanks everyone about the advice. I spoke to a fertility nurse that was recomended to me by my friend. She sais that not everyone has a blood test on day 21, and seeing that I am already ovulating, there was probably no need to check this out. She told me about the side effects and said to carry on as normal. She is going to llok into my notes in the meantime and ring me back next week.

As for the doctor, she apologised so much for him as I shouldn't have been treated like this. I will have to go back to my own GP though at some point as if clomid doesn't work, we will have to look at other options. I found out though my GP has just come back off maternity leave!

Oh, and lucky me started my period 2 days early yesterday! Guess it's not happening this month then?!?! I have started using the clomid today...so watch this space. I'm going to do lots of praying this month.

I have taken the clomid and I am on day 13 of my cycle. I have noticed I have been quite moody this month. When you say monitoring, what do you mean?

Thanks. I hope I get some good news soon too. I was told that I wouldn't need any blood tests as I am already ovulating. I just need to wait!
