Now, let's heal our nation!

There will be no healing for this nation, as we can see in this thread -- even with the moderation policies here to keep things civil. Trump was divisive in his first term, he's likely to be worst this time -- particularly if he follows through on his law fare promises during the campaign against the "enemy within" (Democrats).

It seems, at least based on this thread, there is little interest in uniting but instead to mock and ridicule those who lost.

Not exactly a healing, uniting post

In hindsight, I should have been more evenhanded -- neither side will allow for healing. As I mentioned with this thread, or on another thread here on CF, there appears to be little interest in the Right offering an olive branch or any interest in uniting the country, they seemingly want to lord it over the losers.

On the other side, we saw how the Left behaved when Trump was President last time. It's no different than how the Right acted under Biden, and little different than how they acted under Obama. I can remember a time when there was a "loyal opposition," when the two sides realized they should work together for the good of the country rather than for cheap political points.

The real issues is that neither side has any interest in uniting the country. Instead, they both want to blame the other side for every perceived wrong in the country, and neither side wants to work together to fix things -- with the fear the other party will get credit when things get better.

You aren't wrong, that's why I have issue with both sides.

Just calling what I'm seeing, as someone with no real skin in the game other than being an American (not a supporter of either of the major parties).

As I stated in my second post on this thread, my thoughts were colored by what I saw in this thread, and instead of just pointing out the Right I should have pointed out that neither side has interest in working together, that we'll see the same denunciations of Trump as we saw during his first term.

Personally, I'd be much happier if both sides would work together -- if both could admit that their opposition also wants what is best for America, they just disagree on exactly what changes should be made. I can't see any way that will happen, though, and I'm tired and disgusted with politics from both sides.

I agree, but considering how divided we are as a nation, I don't think we CAN work together.

My opinion only.

I remember how the Left behaved. Remind me how the Right acted, and how it was similar.

Trump hope and change failed. Biden hope and change failed. Trump hope and change will fail again.

The world generally right now is not in a position where things are primed to improve. Those in power will get the blame.
What are you talking about?

The healing this nation needs is from the huge policy mess it's been put in.

It doesn’t help Harris can’t speak in complete sentences either.

“We must together. Work together. To see where we are. Where we are headed, where we are going and our vision for where we should be. But also see it as a moment to, yes. Together, address the challenges and to work on the opportunities that are presented by this moment.” ;)

Now let's wait and see what the Democrats will try to do to remove him. If tgey are smart though they won't. Because if his presidency us as much of a disaster as they think it will be it will be a Democrat landslide in 2028.
They need to finish all trials so he gets jailed when his term is over. Of course he has already qualified for removal with his current convictions.

The following is from Foxnews.com

Vice President Kamala Harris addresses the nation in concession speech
US Vice President Kamala Harris speaks at Howard University in Washington, DC, on November 6, 2024. Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her concession speech to the American people at Howard University in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday afternoon. Her address came hours after calling President-elect Donald Trump to concede earlier today.

The delayed timing echoes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's concession in 2016, who also waited until the next day to deliver her concession.

Harris walked out to the podium wearing a black pantsuit, with the crowd cheering as Beyonce's "Freedom" played in the background.

"My heart is full today, full of gratitude," opened Harris.Harris thanked President Biden, her family, and the Walz family before thanking her supporters and volunteers. "I am so proud of the race we ran and the way we ran it."

"Now I know folks are feeling and experiencing a range of emotions right now, I get it. But we must accept the results of this election." Harris then mentioned calling President-elect Trump to concede the race, and the crowd audibly booed.

Harris also said that she will accept the results of the election and will certify the results on January 6, but added loyalty must be to the Constitution first and foremost.

"While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign: the fight for freedom, for opportunity, for fairness, for the dignity of all people."

Harris reiterated her positions on guns and abortion, as part of the fight she will continue to uphold: "We will continue to wage this fight in the voting booth, in the courtroom, in the public square."

Harris also comforted her younger supporters, saying "to the young people who are watching, it is okay to feel sad and disappointed. But please know it's going to be okay."

"This is not a time to throw up our hands, but to roll up our sleeves," Harris added.

Trump addresses supporters in victory speech

I really like this 25 minutes long victory speech given last night by President-elect Donald Trump.
