CNN weather included Alabama in their weather prediction themselves then they lied about it .....surprise, surprise.

CNN predicts weather? If the fake media and Trump are predicting weather, we're doomed!

Nearly a week before the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration publicly backed President Trump over its own scientists, a top NOAA official warned its staff against contradicting the president.

In an agencywide directive sent Sept. 1 to National Weather Service personnel, hours after Trump asserted, with no evidence, that Alabama “would most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated,” staff was told to “only stick with official National Hurricane Center forecasts if questions arise from some national level social media posts which hit the news this afternoon.”

They were also told not to “provide any opinion,” according to a copy of the email obtained by The Washington Post.

A NOAA meteorologist who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution said the note, understood internally to be referring to Trump, came after the National Weather Service office in Birmingham contradicted Trump by tweeting Alabama would “NOT see any impacts from the hurricane.”

The Birmingham office sent the tweet after receiving a flurry of phone calls from concerned residents following Trump’s message.

The agency sent a similar message warning scientists and meteorologists not to speak out on Sept. 4, after Trump showed a hurricane map from Aug. 29 modified with a hand-drawn, half-circle in black Sharpie around Alabama.

“This is the first time I’ve felt pressure from above to not say what truly is the forecast,” the meteorologist said. “It’s hard for me to wrap my head around. One of the things we train on is to dispel inaccurate rumors and ultimately that is what was occurring — ultimately what the Alabama office did is provide a forecast with their tweet, that is what they get paid to do.”

Everyone has already stated that Alabama was included in early projections, but that it had been removed a couple of days before Trump claimed Alabama was in the danger zone. So Trump using an older CNN video, from the time when Alabama was included, is merely more misrepresentation by Trump.

I find it interesting, particularly with all the angst Trump supporters have about "unnamed spokespeople," that the NOAA press release was from an "unnamed spokesperson." This sounds like a political cover up -- likely by a Trump supporter -- that doesn't want his name associated with the "press release" (or if he is even someone with the credentials and/or authority to release things to the press). This is doubly true with the memo that the NOAA is not to contradict the President.

You are correct. NOAA Communications Director Julie Kay Roberts was "a member of the Donald Trump 2016 campaign and Inaugural Committee".

Had is the key word. It seems Trump used data that was 2 days old, that is forever in tracking hurricanes.

Her official bio from the NOAA website:

Julie has spent much of her career based in Tallahassee, Florida, including seven years as owner of the communications firm, JKR Consulting, specializing in public relations, event management, and non-profit communication. She also spent four years with the Florida Division of Emergency Management as External Affairs Director. In that role, she managed the team responsible for the public image of the Division including the social media and the public education and outreach program.

An official with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is going to investigate if the agency violated its own ethics when it backed President Donald Trump's tweets about Hurricane Dorian over its experts, according to a report by the Washington Post.

"The NWS Forecaster(s) corrected any public misunderstanding in an expert and timely way, as they should," McLean said. "There followed, last Friday, an unsigned press release from 'NOAA' that inappropriately and incorrectly contradicted the NWS forecaster. My understanding is that this intervention to contradict the forecaster was not based on science but on external factors including reputation and appearance, or simply put, political."

The Secretary of Commerce [Wilbur Ross] threatened to fire top employees at the federal scientific agency responsible for weather forecasts last Friday after the agency’s Birmingham office contradicted President Trump’s claim that Hurricane Dorian might hit Alabama, according to three people familiar with the discussion.

That threat led to an unusual, unsigned statement later that Friday by the agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, disavowing the National Weather Service’s position that Alabama was not at risk.

[The Commerce Department denies it - of course]
...

NOAA’s statement on Friday is now being examined by the Commerce Department’s Office of Inspector General, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times, and employees have been asked to preserve their files.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s acting chief scientist said in an email to colleagues Sunday that he is investigating whether the agency’s response to President Trump’s Hurricane Dorian tweets constituted a violation of NOAA policies and ethics. Also on Monday, the director of the National Weather Service broke with NOAA leadership over its handling of Trump’s Dorian tweets and statements.
Our divisive Donald has caused a rift between the NOAA and the NWS.

One theory is that the President is quite nearsighted and is too vain to wear corrective lenses. If one looks (no pun intended) at some of his ..... misstatements it could be he reads the prompter or scrolling at the bottom of the TV screen and thinks it says Alabama instead of Bahama, etc. Then add that to his being too vain to admit an error...
