Good question.

I think a lot of Christians (and other some people) who judge and criticize transgenders don't actually understand transgenderism that much either. However, that doesn't stop them from complaining and casting stones at transgenders who are willing to risk their lives to protect this country. And that is usually the opposite of some of the people who complain about transgenders serving in the military.

You're right about that. I was talking about this over the weekend. Bunch of obese folks who never served a day in the military talking about how transgender folks who are already serving in the military aren't fit to serve. I reckon a lot of the Christians who are judging and criticizing transgenders are plenty sinful themselves & they haven't served their country.

I don't really care if they are in the military. We just shouldn't pay for their surgery.

I can't weigh in on paying for the surgery. This isn't something I know enough about. From what I read the military pays 5 times more for Viagra for the military than for transgender health care. I don't think the military should pay for things like weight loss surgery either but apparently they do. I reckon that sort of thing needs a case by case decision.

I laughed and then shook my head when I read an article that stated the military pays 5 times more for Viagra than for transgender healthcare. The military shells out more money on a medication to enable (older) men to have sex with their wives. I guess it's vitally important to keep military men satisfied in bed. I thought that's one of the most ridiculous and most wasteful way to spend military funding.

Overweight people were complaining about transgenders being unfit for the military? OK then. Lol.

I don't believe we should be paying for any surgeries that are optional surgeries. Nose jobs, breast implants or transexual surgeries.

The purpose of this thread is not whether the decision was right or wrong, it's the colossally stupid way he went about it.

It's like he just woke up, thought he would ban transgender people from the military, and tweeted it.

He should have discussed it with the military leaders (he didn't, despite what he claims) and figured it out.

There's actually a good reason why he sent that tweet when he did. The congressional budget which contained $1.6 million in funding for the border wall, was being held up due to a dispute about whether funding should be allocated to "reassingment" surgery. Trump is largely indifferent to this particular aspect of the culture war, but he has no time for anything holding up funding for that wall. So he renders the whole question moot by announcing that he intends to reverse Obama's order in its entirety...

Fraudulently. Technically, you can get two years in the brig for that...

Well there's something like 150,000 transgender people who've served in the military, fought for our country while fat people sat in their Lazy B recliners judging them, and I don't think any of them got 2 years in the brig for it.

I read a letter to the editor (no, I won't go find it) written by a trans that said Trump's decision was correct. Go figure.

Edie Dixon, a transgender man who identifies as a woman, told the Blaze on July 27:

When the Blaze’s Allie Stuckey asked Dixon for his reaction to Trump’s announcement last week, Dixon replied, “I’m actually very satisfied. This is Trump showing that he is a president for equality, because this isn’t about transgender people, this is about transgender treatment.

“And if you look at the medical disqualifying guidelines of the military that they use, we are medically reliant, and therefore disqualifies us,” he continued.

“Wow, that’s an interesting perspective, and not one that we’re really hearing from other people of your community,” replied Stuckey. She asked, “So the big question is that I’m hearing asked is ‘can trump be a friend of the LGBT community and still enforce this ban?’”

“Of course,” said Dixon. “Trump has already proven to the LGBT community that he is an ally, especially with the religious executive order where he personally removed all -- any bill regarding the LGBT people, and especially his historic before his election when he was in Colorado when he announced his support for LGBT rights.”

Transgender: We’re ‘Medically Reliant’ Like Diabetics, Asthmatics; ‘Should Be Disqualified’ from Military

Transgender activist agrees with Donald Trump's military ban, says 'We should be disqualified' | Christian News on Christian Today

Energy Secretary Rick Perry says he supports President Trump's announcement this week that he will ban transgender people from serving in the U.S. military.

"I totally support the president in his decision," the former Texas governor said, according to The Texas Tribune.

"The idea that the American people need to be paying for these types of operations to change your sex is not very wise from a standpoint of economics," he continued. "I think the president makes some good decisions about making sure that we have a force that is capable."

The point is that defrauding the taxpayers is not a matter to be passed over lightly.

He didn't do anything wrong. He is the commander in chief. Just like Obama was. I think people just knew that there would be more outrage from the left over this. But I wonder if Trump will get tired of every decision be heralded as the worst thing to happen to this country.

This decision was just fine. People are just scared of the left uproar.
I agree .Thank heavens there are some who understand the purpose of being saved, being saved from false ideas about God's creation and our part in it .
Donald Trump maybe brusque ,but he knows false ideas when he sees them .The Holy Spirit is hiding inside this version of Peter the rock .

Even if there were 2 billion over weight ,they would still not be distorting God's design ,which is the most fundamental 'sin' there is .

Trump is now a version of Peter the Rock? Well, that's a new one. It's truly perplexing that some people actually believe Trump is a man of faith in the first place. I guess it never occurred to them that he conveniently "found Jesus" during his presidential campaign last year while pandering for support from the religious right. Talk about a coincidence. It's kind of like a prisoner suddenly "finding Jesus" shortly before his next parole hearing. If the prisoner is really good at acting, like a former reality T.V. star, they could probably pull that "finding Jesus" act off. It's almost as if there are some conservatives who want the Republican Party to be in power in Washington so badly that they will settle for anyone, even for Donald Trump. It truly boggles the mind, but there it is.

This makes me think of a saying our preacher had, "don't judge someone just because they sin differently than you." Now, unless there's some sort of medical or psychological problem that's to fault, being overweight is a sin. I'm sure obese folks want to say being transgender is more of a sin, but that's just something they want to say to make themselves feel better.
It certainly is distorting God's design. We're supposed to treat our bodies like temples, take care of them. Folks who lack the self-control to eat right & exercise are sinning, no doubt about it. Weight issues causes FAR more costs and far more problems for the military than the few transgenders. Those folks passed the physical fitness tests! We had a recruiter for the military come to my HS, he told us that it's a major problem, that too many can't enlist because they're overweight, or even obese. Then there's the huge medical costs of the folks who are enlisted who gain too much, and the vets.

Like I said, I can't say I understand transgender all that much, but I don't understand fat people either. Why they chose to abuse themselves that way, cause a big cost to everybody else for their lifestyle choice. They are the last people who have any right to judge transgender folks who serve in the military, doing for our country what they can't.

Donald Trump isn't no Peter. He's more like a Herod, who could be persuaded by something spiritual but in the end he trades that for foolishness.

The point is that if the military thought that the 150,000 or so transgender folks who've served their country agreed with what you wrote, then there'd be at least 1 in the brig for it by now.

There is no official or exact figure for how many transgender people serve. But the 2016 RAND study estimated that between 1,320 and 6,630 transgender service members are in the active duty military, while between 830 and 4,160 members are in reserves duty. RAND based its study on data from previous research, and estimated midrange figures of 2,450 transgender people in active duty and 1,510 in reserves. There are about 1.2 million active duty military servicemembers overall.

How Many Transgender People Serve in the Military?

study estimated 134,300 transgender people are veterans or retired from the armed forces.

However, Jody Herman, researcher and scholar at the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, who coauthored the 2014 study, said no one knows for certain how many transgender people serve in the military because there’s an information vacuum about the demographic in general:

The Department of Defense commissioned the Rand Corporation to perform a study that was published in 2016. The Rand study estimated a range of between 1,320 and 6,630 transgender personnel actively serving, and anywhere from 830 to 4,160 serving in the reserves. But Rand cautioned that the estimates are just that and should be viewed with caution because there is very limited data about transgender people in both the general population and the military.
