To be fair, that is unless the Dems filibuster. In that case, you can blame them. But if the party in control of the executive branch and both parts of the legislative branch can't come up with a budget that it can find itself in agreement on, then yeah, it's on them.

The battle doesn't even seem to be in the Senate, where you can filibuster, but in the House where you can't. Trump then has the nerve to blame the Democrats when he can't get his own party to jump on the Trump Train.

They also deploy the IDF along that fence because they're smart enough to know that a fence/wall is only something that delays people attempting to get over and that delay gives the IDF a chance to get to them because of that delay.

People here seem to think it's going to be a magic wall, that repels people with a certain amount of melanin.

I understand. AFAIK, there's already some kind of wall there now, but it's not very effective and has plenty of holes in it. You'd still need border patrol agents and cameras/motion detectors to make it work.

The point is that your question lacks understanding of what was being discussed, along with the context of my answer. Therefore, it would be off-topic to entertain your question.

I disagree. But if you're not willing to discuss the matter, I can hardly compel you.

Trump threatens government shutdown over wall

Given that the Republicans control both Houses of Congress and the White House, the fact that we are even contemplating a government shutdown is ample proof that they should never have been entrusted with the "reigns of power!"

But remember the alternative: Hillary Clinton (Obama 2.0). It had to be either him or her.

Hey we can have a gofundme for a northern wall, and to finish the job east and west!
I think ifConservative Christians or who ever wants the wall at the Mexican border should raise funds for the wall at the Mexican border too.

It's a national security issue, which gets paid for the same way the rest of our national defense does.

Yes but we can't afford. So the ones that want to build the wall should pay for it. Or just keep trump in office. They won't want to come to America anyways.

I wouldn't mind if it were a double fence or something like they did in Israel. It would be much more affordable and just as effective.

Or just keep trump in office. They won't want to come to America anyways.

If his policies cause those who want to break the law to reconsider doing so, then that's ok too.

This is all quickly becoming moot; Trump's backing down.

White House ‘confident’ of averting shutdown as Trump shows flexibility on wall

But with a Friday deadline looming to pass a new spending bill, the Trump administration projected confidence that a shutdown would be avoided. In the face of fierce Democratic opposition to fund the wall’s construction, White House officials signaled Monday that the president may be open to an agreement that includes money for border security if not specifically for a wall, with an emphasis on technology and border agents rather than a structure.

To the people who tell him his wall idea is idiotic and has no chance in Hades of getting funded?

He's being flexible about it, isn't he? Do you think he's being more flexible now because he's listening to people to build a wall no matter what?

What a dream that would be now that we see what it's like with him!

If Hillary was president, people would be complaining about her too and saying it would be a dream to have Trump in office. Take North Korea as an example. Now that they're on the verge of hitting us with a nuclear first strike and have threatened to do just that, do you think Hillary would be doing anything more about it than Obama did?

Yeah, I do. A complaint I had about Hillary is that she is hawkish. Very much more than Obama.

Oh, and a lot of the Trump side also said she was too hawkish and was going to get us into WWIII. Can't have it both ways.

At this rate of "flexibility," his backbone will be completely rubberized in a matter of months, and he'll be a loyal subject of the Establishment... or at least, it'll be obvious that he always was.

Do you think he's being more flexible now because he's listening to people to build a wall no matter what?

I don't think he's "being" more flexible... personally, I think this is how he's always been. Now that he no longer needs to placate the hoi polloi, he no longer needs to pay any attention to his previous promises.

In a year or two, he may very well try to claim the wall was someone else's idea.

It amazes me that the republican party controls every single aspect of US government and still can't get anything done.

How are they accomplishing this?
Years (decades) of practice.
