Those documents were documents planted by the FBI that the president had just declassified through the privilege Obama introduced.

Exactly the title: A question for Trump supporters.

What is the legitimate purpose for Trump possessing dozens of boxes of classified documents after leaving office?

Right now I have no idea if he did or not.

Most presidents on leaving office take a lot of documents with them and place them in libraries which they build as a memorial to their term(s) in office.

Who could possibly know what was on the publicly released inventory of the warrant execution?

Why does he have in his personal possession, classified documents?

The documents that go to presidential libraries are declassified.

Thats false in every way.

The presidents dont take custody of those docs.

How glad we are that he was not operating his email server from his bathroom all during his time in office and also after leaving office having it in his home.

We are trying "not to notice" that inconvenient detail at the moment.

Indeed
"Box of documents" -- not entirely "descriptive".

"secret documents" -- of unknown origin, content??

There are various classifications where "secret" is the lowest level of security -
A person who HAS a security clearance is allowed to have a certain level of document.

IT would be hard to argue that Trump never read his documents while in office - which means that the problem is not that it was not allowed for the president to know of their content. Rather the main argument must be that he is sharing them with people who do not have approval/clearance to see them.

Sort of like Hillary's hacked email server while in office.

Do you have TV over air or cable where you are? The talking heads have said repeatedly the President can declassify any documents he wants to.

Unlike Hillary -- (and her at-home above top secret email server)

"The president of the United States is not subject to a security screening and does not hold a security clearance. Once elected, only time and inclination separate a new president from opening the vaults and knowing the truth about everything."

Does the President Have a Security Clearance?

"... classification policy largely stems from executive orders, which originate from the president’s pen. He or she makes the rules for classification and the treatment of classified material. As commander-in-chief, all military secrets and secret-keepers serve at the whim of the president. If a president so chooses, he or she can more or less learn everything there is to know about anything there is to know."

He can.

Where's the record that he did that?

Why are documents taken still marked as classified? Hint: if they're declassified they're marked as such and redactions/rewrites are performed to hide sources and methods to, you know, save the lives of our intelligence community.

Most likely because it is completely irrelevant to the rule of law. Would you like to exempt your favorite politicians from Federal law?

That's not actually true. Most presidential libraries are run by the National Archives who controls and maintains them.

But does an ex-president have security clearance? That might depend on the caliber of the ex.

There are provisions here. Obama did it. Johnson did it.
Maybe others.
At this point, we do not know what provisions were or were not followed.
But this is the answer to your question.
Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978

BTW, I am not so much a Trump supporter as I am against the taking of innocent lives by abortion. Could never vote for a candidate who supports abortion.

Those are all questions that a court of law should resolve. My guess is if Trump inadvertently did not properly mark some documents. The worst that could happen is a slap on the wrist. That ain't a criminal act. The Democratic party is desperate to get something criminal on Trump so hopefully they can bar him from running again.
Let us remember those same government agents had been in Mar-lago examining documents only 2 months before. And why didn't the agents just ask Trump for access, they did before? Why did they wait until Trump was absent and invade with an army of 30 agents in bullet proof vests carrying ar-15s? They didn't do that 2 months before.,
