Judge indefinitely delays Trump's sentencing date in hush money case

It had already become clear since Election Day that the Nov. 26 sentencing wouldn’t go forward as planned.

Judge Juan Merchan, who was supposed to sentence Donald Trump for his 34 felony fraud convictions on Nov. 26 has delayed sentencing indefinitely. Legal teams will submit filings on how to proceed from this point.

Trump spokesperson and incoming White House communications director Steven Cheung hailed it as “a decisive win” for Trump.​

Despite that, it should be noted, this is not an exoneration. Trump's 34 felony convictions have not been overturned or dismissed. Only sentencing has been delayed. It's possible Trump could still be sentenced after his term in office is completed.

He was convicted and the conviction should stand, if only for the history books.
We should not obliterate the truth because hopefully it will serve as a warning to future generations not to make the disastrous mistakes of 2020 and 2024.

Merchan said Trump attorneys have until December 2 to file their motion for dismissal. Merchan said Bragg has until December 9 to respond.​

Blanche’s pre-motion letter on Wednesday was sent in order to request permission to file a motion to dismiss by Dec. 20 and to request a stay on all deadlines, which Bragg and New York prosecutors had agreed to.​

The letter came after Bragg on Tuesday sent a letter to Merchan requesting a stay on the case until 2029. Bragg said he would oppose Trump’s motion to dismiss but said he would be open to receiving the defense argument.​

That means the charges may be dismissed also. Then there is the appeal forthcoming.

Sure. They're allowed to fila any motions they want. But allowing Trump's team to file the motion does not mean he'll grant it.

That means the charges may be dismissed also. Then there is the appeal forthcoming.
