Trump refers to Virgin Islands governor as President - CNNPolitics
...about that "
"I will tell you I left Texas and I left Florida and I left Louisiana and I went to Puerto Rico and I met with the President of the Virgin Islands," he told the audience of the Values Voter Summit in Washington.
"We are one nation and we all hurt together, we hope together and we heal together," he said, later adding, "The Virgin Islands and the President of the Virgin Islands, these are people that are incredible people, they suffered gravely and we're be there, we're going to be there, we have really, it is not even a question of a choice."
tulc(MAGA by not actually knowing what he's talking about?)

Can I just ask an honest question? Why is this news? Why is this worth posting about? It's an obvious slip of the tongue we ALL make. I don't get why people feel the need to nitpick every little thing.

When I saw this in the New Threads list just now its title was shortened to "Trump says he spoke to Virgin..." — I half thought it was going to be "Trump says he spoke to Virgin Mary"

At some point it's no longer slips of the tongue, it's being wholesale ignorant.

I agree. Another one of his 'slip ups' was mentioned by another member in the thread I started.

I can understand the frustration with him. I get frustrated that he doesn't speak well enough. I just wonder about these types of threads and what they point of them are. Like this one slip up is going to matter. It's not going to change anyone's mind. Do you just need yet another Trump-bashing thread?

I honestly can't imagine Trump ever doing that, speaking to the Virgin Mary, that is. He doesn't strike me as a man of genuine faith, considering how I've heard his crude talk and his irrational reactions toward people who disagree with him or react to people he doesn't like, such as the profane name he recently called the NFL players who knelt during the national anthem. Grant it, he's cunning enough to know how to put on a good performance playing the part though since he's apparently convinced his large conservative evangelical voter base that he is a man of faith now. I must say it'll be interesting to see how long he keeps up his 'found Jesus' charade once he's no longer the president.

I see a lot of Christians in this forum alone who have worse behavior. Do you think Jesus would appreciate the constant attacks on Trump? Not even when the bible itself that God chooses our rulers and we must respect them?

I think it's ironic that after 8 years of the constant attacks against the former president, now all of a sudden, we're expected to no longer criticize the president since Trump is now in office.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.” - President Theodore Roosevelt

But criticism is ALL you guys do. If hard pressed, NONE of you would have anything nice to say about him. Just going by all the posts I see, he's this huge racist Hitler wannabe who hate women, is a rapist and the criticism goes all the way down to how he eats his chicken and ice cream. I mean, the chicken story was front page.

You say the constant attacks on Obama, but the press was nice to him. They didn't give him anywhere near 91% negative coverage. All the late night hosts didn't hate Obama. The media didn't hate Obama. They're all democrat. There is NO similarity to the amount of hate and bad press Obama got versus what Trump has gotten. Not even close.

And is that suppose to excuse Trump's behavior?

Do you think Jesus would appreciate the constant attacks on Trump?

I have no idea if Jesus would appreciate that or not. I don't consider who to vote for on the premise of whether Jesus would like it or not. I don't vote for someone simply because the person claims to be a Christian. I want someone who will be responsible in the political position he or she is elected for and not pander to any particular religion or place their faith above what is best for the country as a whole.

Not even when the bible itself that God chooses our rulers and we must respect them?

You can believe that if you want, but I don't believe it because my theological view of the bible is obviously different than yours. I wanted to say something else about a certain time period, but then decided I shouldn't Godwin tulc's thread. Anyway, I have absolutely no respect for Trump as either the president or as a man. I think I will leave it at that, because I would rather not receive another message for flaming a public figure. My conscience would never allow me to respect a man like Trump, regardless of the claim that God put him into power. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing that I can respect about him at all. I personally believe respect is earned and not commanded.

So if I plan an uprising and we take over the government and kill a head of state, installing a new one... does that mean that I'm God? Or just that God supported my revolution?

Yes; I have difficulty saying nice things about reprehensible people, who show no sense of conscience and do not care about ethical and moral behavior, or compassion, and who constantly lie.

For me to say nice things about you, you have to actually do or say good things. Trump has done neither.

The right wing news organizations literally made up things about Obama to hate. Trump spent years trying to convince us all that Obama was born in Kenya, even when he wasn't, and then said he was proud of his actions for "bringing up the issue" when he was proven wrong.

There were also all of those executive orders Obama supposedly signed... which I never found, when I went and read all of them (it took a while).

The right wing media also decided that Obama was going to take away their guns and stuff, even though he never did.

Trump did defend Nazis and KKK so that is truth.

Trump did brag about sexually assaulting women by grabbing them by their genitals so that is truth.

Trump did brag about his perverted peeping tom behavior with naked women at his beauty pageants. Women have come forward and say Trump is doing same thing with naked children. So that is truth.

You seem to have problem with media telling truth about Trump. You honestly think it would be better if media start lying about what Trump does? Even when we can watch Trump brag about doing these things himself?

Big news on Obama was that he used dijon mustard. This was "front page news" on FOX News. So nothing new here.

Does that mean God supported the Christians who were involved in the American Revolutionary War, even though those Christians obviously didn't respect their ruler, King George III?

Exactly. Well said.

I remember some of the nasty names Obama and his wife were called.

This is man who never knew healthcare was complicated. So obviously not "an obvious slip of the tongue."

This is man who constantly displays his ignorance. So obviously not "an obvious slip of the tongue."
