as far as i heard his speech from a video, he says "who disrespect the national flag", not "who kneel during national anthem"

Blessings

Within the context of the NFL players he was talking about, what difference is there?

"Trump also predicted that any owner who followed the presidential encouragement would become "the most popular person in this country" — at least for a week."

Ah, our President whose self-confidence depends on ratings...

I don't disagree with the president on this.

It's interesting... Trump & Co want to ostracize football players for protesting the flag, yet want to preserve memorials to men who waged war against that flag.

Interesting choice of words.

Personally, I don't see the big deal. It's not like they're burning the flag, they're just kneeling. It's a harmless expression, and fully within their rights. I'd never do it, but I wouldn't deny or punish anyone for it.

Also, Trump encouraging people to leave over it is silly. If you're in the stadium, the NFL already has your money. They keep it whether you stay or not. Leaving before the game even starts just hurts your wallet. You might as well stay and watch the game you paid for.

Popular among Donald and his base -- who needs that kind of publicity?

I think that President Trump, of all people, should be aware of the dangers of head trauma, since, and I say this with compassion, he appears to have some cognitive impairment himself.

fair enough but it's the same argument the majority of have been using these past few months.
Not sure I follow. I wasnt really advancing an argument. Just making an observation thats somewhat related to the topic.

I do think football, at least the style recognizable to Americans, will die out. Who's gonna sign their kids up for likely brain degradation?

Football may be in a slight decline but it won't go away

I don't think you realize the amount of money that is involved in Football.

I think its more about habit and emotional attachment on the part of the public. These wont melt away instantly. I think the decline will be slow but deep. Like with smoking.
