Trump Overreaches to Claim Indictment Proves 'No Collusion'

Trump had seized on the fact that the Russian “information warfare” effort, as a top Justice Department official called it, began in 2014, before Trump announced his White House run. His team noted that the Russian efforts to sow discord are also said to have benefited Bernie Sanders, who was running for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Trump also asserted that the indictment proved there was “no collusion” between his campaign and the Russians.

His cheers of vindication Friday appeared to be more show than substance.

The administration still harbors deep worries about the direction of Mueller’s nine-month probe, which has shown no signs of abating and has expanded to explore potential obstruction of justice on the part of the president and his top aides.

I expect this story to die quickly as it could not be sustained after the FISA memos were made public and there is a clear connection with Russians tampering with the US elections after Mueller's indictment of the 13 Russians. Things are going poorly for Fusion GPS and the dossier hoax not to mention the DNC for funding this mess.

My money is on the President going on to higher approval ratings.

...he couldn't really get much lower ones could he? He's already set a record for the lowest approval ratings in the first year since they started tracking them.

Trump just continues to deny, deny. For over a year he has been claiming the Russia investigation is a "hoax".
Now he have Trump appointee, McMasters, saying that Russian interference is "incontrovertible". Trump appointees, Wray and Pompeo both agree that Russia interfered in the election and will do so in 2018. Dan Coats, National Intelligence director, said the Russians felt they did so well in 2016, they are interfering again in the 2018 election. Trump appointee, Tillerson, also says the Russians interfered and are doing so again.

Yet, the Trump administration is failing to enforce the sanctions that congress voted on and was made law because the current sanctions are 'acting as a deterrent. What deterrent if they are still meddling?

Couple that with the fact that members of Trump's team met secretly with Russians, and that many still do not have security clearances, and that former associates, Manafort and Papadopoulos are indicted and have plea deals, and Gates appears to be making a plea deal.....well, the stench from this administration is getting stronger and stronger.

The 13 charges on the Russians and the one on the American are just the start. Mueller is keeping things close to the chest.

IN the meantime, the president strikes out at everyone but Russia. He has made calls to Putin that we only learn about from Russian media, not the US media who were kept in the dark. He is desperate imho.

It looks bad.
