The Trump administration is pushing the limits of an obscure federal law that restricts nominees from serving in federal positions before they’re approved by the Senate.

A POLITICO review has identified four officials at three different agencies doing substantially similar work to the position for which they have been nominated – despite not yet getting a green-light from the Senate.

The hires reflect increasing impatience in federal agencies that key jobs remain unfilled nine months into the new administration.

President Donald Trump has complained repeatedly that Democrats are moving too slowly to confirm his nominees, though he’s also said he intends to leave many jobs empty. Democrats counter that the onus is on Trump, who has not yet announced nominees for a slew of key positions across the government.

Good report. It looks like nominees are being stalled in the State Department.

That would be his own state department, wouldn't it? Can't blame that on the Senate...

It's not the Senate's fault at all. It's two never-Trump staffers at the top of the state department. One such staffer is described below,

“Peterlin is literally sitting on stacks of résumés,” one national security expert told American Greatness. Together, Peterlin and Hook are “boxing out anyone who supports Trump’s foreign policy agenda,” he added.

Peterlin, an attorney and former Commerce Department official in the George W. Bush Administration, was hired to help guide political appointments through the vetting and confirmation process. She reportedly bonded with Tillerson during his confirmation hearings, and he hired her as his chief of staff.

Sounds like Tillerson's head is next on Donald's chopping block.

You know, for a guy who boasted during the campaign that he would surround himself with the right people, Donald just can't catch a break...

No, that would be the Senate who confirms nominees. And by the way, how does someone who is nominated for a position show up for work if they are not nominated?

Sounds like double speak to me.

Perhaps if you kept track of the two separate topics being discussed? HereIStand posted an interesting article about how Donald's appointees are being held up by his own State Department, headed by the Secretary of State he himself appointed. Perhaps you should click it?

Most of the well-connected GOP is pro free-trade, indifferent on illegal immigration, and interventionist abroad. All of which Trump isn't. That makes it difficult to find the right people.

Rex Tillereson isn't "well-connected GOP," however -- He was the CEO of Exxon and personal friend of Donald before being hand-picked as Secretary of State.

Who gets the blame for this impending failure?

Tillerson for selecting the wrong people. But he probably didn't much to choose from, since most of the Bush-era people aren't on board with Trump.

Ah, the conspiracy to undermine Donald's undermining of America...

Donald's not going to want excuses -- he's going to want Tillerson's head. After the whole "moron" incident, I'm surprised he lasted this long.

If you read any book on leadership, if you study any of the great leaders of the past and present, whether it be the Military, Medical Profession, Corporation, Businesses, etc etc you will find that all great leaders have one overwhelming trait in common...
'
They accept responsibility for everything that falls underneath them.

"the Buck Stops Here" is a famous saying that comes to mind.
But beyond pithy sayings, every document on leadership ever printed espouses the need for leaders to accept responsibility

yet time and time again with Trump and his administration nothing bad is EVER his fault. Never. It is someone else's fault. Even when Trump is on record for saying something blatantly false... the first thing out of his mouth is "Well, somebody told me that..."

Trump and his entire administration is pathologically unable to accept responsibility for anything bad.

As someone who has experience leading people, it is sickening to witness.
