Trump's open door Oval Office

When Omarosa Manigault, the former “Celebrity Apprentice” antihero-turned-White House adviser, needs to talk to President Donald Trump, she simply strolls into the Oval Office.

As assistant to the president and director of communications for the office of public liaison, Manigault enjoys what Trump aides refer to as walk-in privileges — meaning she doesn’t need an appointment or permission to pop her head in and consult with the leader of the free world.

Her level of easy access marks a break from the previous administration, where President Barack Obama and his gatekeeper chiefs of staff kept at bay the number of aides, even senior officials, who simply walked in without an appointment. In contrast, Trump may have set up the most accessible Oval Office in modern history.

I think this is great! He's acting like a CEO and not just a walled-off king in an ivory tower. He's also the most transparent POTUS in modern history. It's been said you know more about Trump and what he's up to in one day than the entire 8 years of Obama.

Obama promised transparency. But his administration is one of the most secretive

Perhaps this is why there is so much turmoil with Trump's administration. The public actually knows what's going on. Under Obama, we only found out about things after the fact. A perfect case in point is Obamacare. Originally he promised complete transparency. There were suppose to be C-SPAN feeds of roundtable discussions. Never happened. Added to that, the media didn't do any real investigative journalism to expose anything. Obviously, that's all changed.

Been said by whom? Because that's a ridiculous exaggeration.

I'm not sure what CEO's your familiar with, but I don't think that's typically the way it works. You usually have to schedule an appointment with someone that high up.

Really? Because even the leftwing media said Obama was secretive.

I'm in the business world. Every CEO has his/her own style. But Trump ran his company with an open door policy and so do other innovative leaders;

Not always. Many ceo's, will tell those who are people he relies on, to have aggressive 2 way communication going. I have been a vp with a large public company and see this type of management in action.

And I would agree with them, but in more one day than eight years? You don't think that's a bit hyperbolic? It's not like Trump hasn't kept any secrets since he's been in the White House. A good deal of things about him we've learned because certain things have leaked.

Trump is a combination of ringmaster and stage magician. He relies on distraction and deception to maintain an illusion. He is not a typical manager. His business record is a mixed bag. Whether that style will work in the White House remains to be seen.

Most Democrats in Congress will oppose him so if the Republicans don't give total support then very little will get done, forget the style, odds are little will get done how ever committed he is.

He is a populist and until he learns to ignore what the public wants and to do what the lobbyists and big money want, the ones that control the Congressmen, Congress will not back him.

You do have a point. Most of the establishment both D and R have not supported Trump. There's so dang much money in politics. I would love to see Trump completely ban lobbyists. It's a conflict of interests. As long as Big Pharma (the grand daddy of them all) can buy off lawmakers and get concessions in Obamacare, we'll never have true meaningful reform. I'm at least heartened that Trump met with Pharma execs and told them point blank that drug prices are too high and they have to do something about it. The US gov., BTW, is the largest purchaser of their drugs and vaccines through Medicaid, Medicare, VA and other public health programs.

The US medical system is set up to make money for the very rich.

If the system had accountability to the payer, as in socialist countries it would be far more efficient and streamlined.

The main diagnostic and treatment practices in Britain are standardised and quick and efficient, here they are a total nightmare and fifty times as expensive.

If the system was free market it would also be more efficient and streamlined.

I would go to a medical practice that charges a fraction of the one I'm going to now, and buy my medicine from Canada or India or somewhere at cost plus.

The VA bargains with pharma for their drug prices. When Bush put through Plan D of Medicare he could have done the same thing and lowered Medicare drug prices as well but he didn't.
Other countries who are buying from the same pharma companies bargain for all their drug prices and they are much, much lower than those sold in the US.
What do you think about oil and gas lobbyists?

In essence, you are correct. There are a lot of reasons for it though, which are very difficult to fix.

Sure, but he was running a small family business. As we've seen so far a style which fits that doesn't work so well with running a large country.

A good executive will deal with existing realities. IOW, no excuses but nice try.

Nope, very simple and quick.

Open the market up so people can get any medical carer they want.

Plenty are better than the American ones and all are a lot less expensive.

That's the core of Neoliberalism:

make the lower paid compete with Mexicans and Asians, and protect the rich,

pass the savings by importing from other countries at a lower price, pass the savings up to the top executives and shareholders, with a promise that somehow it will 'trickle down'.

That's Neoliberalism in a nutshell.

Within Neoliberalism the extortionate profits of the very rich are a necessity as is the increasing poverty of the workers.

The extortionate prices and stupid practices of the medical profession

Most Doctors: Angina is not that unusual but you should go to a better diet (booklet provided) and follow an exercise routine (booklet provided) to improve your heart circulation, and it is easy to measure the blood flow to confirm this diagnosis.

American Doctors: a stent is the only cure, it might kill you but it will make us lots of money

That would be good, but there is more to why healthcare costs are so high in the US.
