I wonder how Obama got exempted from that.

We should indeed pray for God to send a spirit of wisdom upon him.

Or perhaps like the Epic of Gilgamesh, we should pray to heaven for a companion to save us from his madness. One that does not speak Russian or Korean would be nice.

Trump May boycott 2020 debates after DNC snubs Fox News

The Republicans are reduced to criticizing the Democrats as "socialists" and the "radical left" because they can't run on their record!

- 35 day federal government shut down that only strengthened the Democrats
- $1 trillion tax cut for the wealthy
- revolving door of White House staff
- no "grand bargain" negotiated with Kim Jung-ai
- approaching 10 000 "Pinocchioes" while in office
- multiple scandals
- no wall funding from Mexico, as promised
- less credibility with the public than his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, a convicted liar and felon
- no infrastructure bill
- 2 failed attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare
- Puerto Rico debacle
- Republicans lost a record 40 seats and their majority after he 2018 Interims
- Mueller Investigation
- Judge Roy Moore and the loss of Session's Alabama Senate seat
- all the "adult supervision" in the White House have either been replaced or resigned
- Charlotteville, white racists, the "good people on both sides" comment
- "national emergency" to bypass the Congress may be defeated in the Senate despite having a Republican majority

There are no words to describe the sheer incompetence it takes not to pass the necessary funding for their President's signature promise, "THE WALL" - given their 2 year window of opportunity with majorities in both the Senate and the House!

Christians have been mocking our president at least 8 years before Trump got in office. Now that Trump's in office Christians should stop now.

it's so cute how NOW that it's trump we must be civil to the president, we must work together, stop bi partisanship, stop always attacking everything the president does.

Oh yeah and also, the Democrats are radical extremists who want to bring in socialism, destroy liberty and probably eat your children too. Let's all come together guys!

Everyone here expects readers to know when sarcasm is being employed, but when the president quite obviously engages in it, a bunch immediately takes the position that every word is dead serious..

Seems like a weird claim, given that his base seems to be the ones taking the obviously dumb things he says very seriously. For example - his promise to get Mexico to pay for a wall.

Well, it may be that Mexico will pay for the wall in one way or another. But much of what the president takes heat for are his off-the-cuff comments like all of us regular folk say everyday and our hearers understand to be little jokes or harmless generalizations. But if the president says such a thing, it instantly is analyzed from every possible angle as though it was testimony given in court.

Spot on.

When he made the claim that he had the largest electoral college victory since Reagan, he was obviously being sarcastic. When he was called out on the lie, he then shifted the goal posts to say it was the largest Republican electoral college victory since Reagan. When he was again shown to then claimed it was just something someone had told him. Sarcasm at its finest.

When he was at a rally, and claimed that the remains of 200 soldiers had been returned from North Korea, when the actual number was 0, it was a harmless generalization.

When he came back from the first North Korea summit, and claimed that the nuclear threat from North Korea had been removed, despite not really getting any sort of firm commitment, it was a little joke.

When he made the claim that he would "drain the swamp", yet has an extremely large number of appointees caught up in corruption, he was obviously being sarcastic (although he claimed he thought "drain the swamp" was hokey, but he kept on saying it because the crowds were eating it up).
------------

Now that, was sarcasm.

You can keep defending his incessant lies as sarcasm, jokes, exaggerations, and generalizations, but it's been plain to see since well before he became a candidate for President that he lies as a matter of habit.

Lol. He can't even get our own government to pay for his wall, but yeah, hold on to that hope. ^_^

It's almost like some people want someone a little better than their drinking buddies to lead our nation.

If that is your view, then it is. I, however, know that the claims about him being a bald-faced liar, etc. are way overblown, and that is what I was referring to.

Frankly, people who claim that he has lied 7000 times or nonsense like that do not do their case any good since it is easy to point out where many such allegations fail, making it seem as though the charges in general are contrived.

yeah, it's not like he says demonstrably false things amd makes up stuff on the spot because it helps him. it's something he does to the point of absurdity, he lies, stretches the truth, makes stuff up, quote mines, or takes out of context so much stuff as a way to make his base believe him. Not even counting the many lies by omission. If you guys don't see that, then it's not our problem, and sad you will back ujp any lies he says just because it supports what you want.

Oh for Pete's sake, AGAIN?

AGAIN a Trump supporter capitalizes the pronoun when referring to Trump like he's freaking GOD.

Am I the only one who sees this? How can this many times be an accident? It isn't Trump who scares me by now; it's his followers who seem to outright revere him in ways like this.

QFT. I agree.

Trump is terrified of debates.

He should be since he bragged that he's really smart and a very stable genius. But in reality, he has the speech level of a fourth-grader and his habit of misspelling words has become such a joke.

It's not only what you mentioned in your posts, but it's also how the beliefs that God appoints our leaders and Christians are commanded to obey the government have made such a popular comeback among Christian Trump supporters since he was elected. It certainly is ironic how these two particular beliefs were conveniently missing among the Religious Right during Obama's eight year presidency.

Trump's "Pinocchio" meter is closer to 10 000 than 7 000 - he is currently averaging 22 a day and in one speech alone he added over 100 to his total!

and you believe that? All you've done is confirm my comment that people are finding lies where they aren't.

It's a strange hobby, I think, and it would take a very unusual person even to spend his life compiling such a list. But if you want to say the president does lie, how many lies are enough to make the case?

There are at least a half-dozen lists that I have encountered somewhere or other, and since they vary from each other by many thousands of "lies," from a few hundred to now approximately 10,000, with each list supposed to be authoritative, it's obvious that the whole thing is bogus.

Okay...if we spot you the first 10,000 lies, by your own count, of course, you’ll “see the light” at your 10,001st?
