I've lived through Nixon's non impeachment... similar set of circumstances.

No. For all of Nixon's faults, he wasn't an insurrectionist and he didn't brazenly and publicly try to overthrow the duly elected government. Yes, Nixon committed crimes, but *nothing* like the crimes that Trump has committed during his tenure. Trump is a threat to our entire democracy.

If the Senate refuses to hear from the house because Trump is no longer president what is the House going to do?

Nothing...there's nothing they can do. The only president that can be impeached is Biden by the time the Senate will convene.

Impeach is when the House presents it's case to the Senate...that's what they call that...not the House taking a vote to do so.

And Mcconnell has been extremely clear on the matter.

That's not true. Trump can be "convicted" by the Senate.

Trump impeachment: Congress impeached William Belknap after he resigned

Such a conviction would strip Trump of all the "perks" he's otherwise entitled to, and it would open up the door for him to end up in jail for his crimes. Nobody is going to pardon Trump.

Again Belknap was not a president.
And Mitch Mcconnell has said he ain't hearing it.

And besides...the point was that Nixon was not impeached.

Claim
Donald Trump Jr. taunted the Clintons in 2016 by tweeting that being impeached was "deplorable."

Origin
On Jan. 13, 2021, President Donald Trump became the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice, once in December 2019 on articles of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, and then again a year later for an incitement of insurrection article stemming from the riot and violent attack against the Capitol.

Shortly after the U.S. House passed the January 2021 article of impeachment, social media users began circulating a purported tweet directed at Bill and Hillary Clinton by Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., in which he proclaimed, “You know what’s deplorable? Being Impeached!!!”:

jr_tweet.jpg

This supposed statement of Trump Jr.’s was a reference to Hillary Clinton’s declaring during the 2016 presidential campaign that “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables,” and to President Bill Clinton’s own impeachment in December 1998.

This tweet was in fact genuine, a taunt the younger Trump posted on Sep. 10, 2016, just after Hillary Clinton made her infamous “basket of deplorables” remark. The tweet is still visible on his Twitter timeline:

You can take advice from who ever you like. I’m saying you’re being played if someone’s led you to believe Trump hasn’t been impeached for a second time. It should maybe raise a flag that this guy was Trump’s personal impeachment attorney last time so I think there’s a slight conflict of interest here and he’s providing this cover for Trump fans looking for something — anything — to ease their feelings this week.

You never did reply to my comment in the other thread about the plain text of the Constitution. Impeachment happens in the House. That’s what happened yesterday. Trump has been impeached.

Deal with it.

Not only is there a conflict of interest, his personal lawyer was complicit in the crime of sedition. "Trial by combat" Rudy is likely to end up in jail right along side Trump.

No... because if nixon wasn't impeached at all...then Trump only once.

Can you show me where anybody claims nixon was impeached?
Nixon resigned before the articles the House drew up came to a floor vote to formally impeach him. It’s a certainty he would have been had he not resigned.

Probably the most deplorable tweets of Trumps entire life came *after* the riots, including telling the rioters that he "loved" them and they were 'special'. They were a bunch of thugs. And then there was this huge lie:

These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!

There was no "sacred" landslide victory. In fact the term "sacred" is utterly sacrilegious, particularly when combined with such a bald faced lie about a "landslide victory" that was actually a massive loss!

The only side committing any "viscous"ness were the viscous lies that Trump has been telling his followers, and the viscous behavior of his minion mob. The people who stormed the Capitol weren't "patriots", they were thugs, and insurrectionists. Nothing was "stripped away" from anyone, Trump and the Republicans simply *lost* a free and fair election. Nobody has treated them "badly" either, whereas his mob badly beat and killed police.

Trump was right about *one* thing however. We will 'remember' the day alright. January 6th 2021 will be remembered as the day that a lying amoral President and his riotous mob committed treason against the United States of America.

It’s the day his presidency ended.

Secret Service Guarding Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner Were Prohibited From Using the Couple’s Bathroom

They reportedly have over 6 bathrooms, yet Secret Service ended up having to rent a place to use the bathroom costing taxpayers $3,000 a month for the 4 years!

If you are trying to convince us you have no idea how impeachment works you are doing a bang up job.

I don't know about Russia. trump has been a useful idiot for Putin, but trump may be more trouble than he's worth. Putin is old KGB, and I would bet he think's trump is a political liability that is better being somebody else's problem.

Maybe putin will invite him over for tea. After all he's outlived his usefulness.
