Trump Administration Imposes Ban on Bump Stocks

The Trump administration on Tuesday issued a new rule banning bump stocks, the attachments that enable semiautomatic rifles to fire in sustained, rapid bursts and that a gunman used to massacre 58 people and wound hundreds of others at a Las Vegas concert in October 2017.

The new regulation, which had been expected, would ban the sale or possession of the devices under a new interpretation of existing law. Americans who own bump stocks would have 90 days to destroy their devices or to turn them in to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Justice Department said A.T.F. would post destruction instructions on its website.

As one who owns and trains with an AR-15 and with several variants of the AK I support a ban on the so-called bump stock. It is a useless accessory for those who only want something that goes "bang" many times very fast. If you want that then try firecrackers or a cap-gun, much safer for all involved and much cheaper.. If you truly want a full automatic AR or AK (or what ever) then by all means apply for a FFL and get it legally.

I tend to agree, I've tried firing the M-16 on single shot and on a three round burst, single shot is a lot easier to control. The ammo goes a lot faster then you think, reloading only enjoys so many magazines. There is a reason Army assault rifles don't go fully automatic...I don't know...most of the time. But can, just bring lots of reload magazines if you like full auto.

However, conspicuous by their silence on the matter, are the "can't give an inch" folks who would've undoubtedly portrayed this as a precursor to tyranny had it been a Democrat doing it.

Because Trump was never a philosophically convicted conservative.

• Media is having some success spinning the facts on Mueller to create a guilt by association effect.
• The wall isn't going to get done.
• Spending will outweigh the tax cut benefits.
• Federal Reserve punch bowl has been removed so here comes stock and housing hangover.

He's beginning to feel the heat for the next election so he's throwing out some scraps to the liberal center.
