This is new - Donald Jr. may have tried to collude with the Russians.

Trump’s Son Met With Russian Lawyer After Being Promised Damaging Information on Clinton
NYTimes said:
President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.

The meeting was also attended by his campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Mr. Manafort and Mr. Kushner only recently disclosed the meeting, though not its content, in confidential government documents described to The New York Times.

But he can explain!

Donald Trump Jr.’s Two Different Explanations for Russian Meeting
NYTimes said:
This was Mr. Trump’s statement to the news media on Saturday:

It was a short introductory meeting. I asked Jared and Paul to stop by. We primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children that was active and popular with American families years ago and was since ended by the Russian government, but it was a campaign issue at the time and there was no follow up.
I was asked to attend the meeting by an acquaintance, but was not told the name of the person I would be meeting with beforehand.
This is the statement Mr. Trump gave to the news media on Sunday:

I was asked to have a meeting by an acquaintance I knew from the 2013 Miss Universe pageant with an individual who I was told might have information helpful to the campaign. I was not told her name prior to the meeting. I asked Jared and Paul to attend, but told them nothing of the substance. We had a meeting in June 2016. After pleasantries were exchanged, the woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Ms. Clinton. Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense. No details or supporting information was provided or even offered. It quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information. She then changed subjects and began discussing the adoption of Russian children and mentioned the Magnitsky Act. It became clear to me that this was the true agenda all along and that the claims of potentially helpful information were a pretext for the meeting. I interrupted and advised her that my father was not an elected official, but rather a private citizen, and that her comments and concerns were better addressed if and when he held public office. The meeting lasted approximately 20 to 30 minutes. As it ended, my acquaintance apologized for taking up our time. That was the end of it and there was no further contact or follow-up of any kind. My father knew nothing of the meeting or these events.

Donald Trump Jr.’s stunningly incriminating statement to the New York Times
WashingtonPost said:
Needless to say, the report looks bad for the president, even though his private legal team told the Times that Trump did not participate or even know about the meeting. Trump has a go-to playbook in situations like these: cast doubt on the credibility of unnamed sources (five, in this case) and cry, “Fake news!”

But Trump Jr. took that strategy off the table with a stunningly incriminating first response....

...Trump Jr. confirmed that he went into the meeting expecting to receive information from the Russian lawyer that could hurt Clinton. That is a breathtaking admission.

Could this explain Daddy Trump's weird tweets about Podesta?

Even though Trump Jr has confirmed it, I wouldn't put it past Trump Sr. to STILL say that he didn't do, and those who said he did are just making up "fake news."

Oh, I expect that he'll definitely claim #FakeNews - that's his go-to excuse for everything reported that he dislikes.

The Truth Behind Donald Trump, Jr.,’s Meeting with a Russian Lawyer
From the NewYorker:
Don’t get ahead of the reporting. That’s one of the first lessons you’re supposed to learn as a novitiate in the church of journalism. Don’t assert what is not yet established by the facts. The consequences can be dire...

...[W]e learn that Trump associates, including the President’s son, met during the 2016 campaign with one Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Kremlin-connected lawyer, on the promise that she could provide them information damaging to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

The meeting took place on June 9, 2016, at Trump Tower. Trump’s emissaries included Donald Trump, Jr., who now helps to run the family businesses; Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who now helps to run the country; and his then campaign manager, Paul Manafort, who has a long history of business ties to Russia and pro-Russia Ukrainians, as well as a variety of political kleptocrats including Jonas Savimbi, Mobuto Sese Seko, and Ferdinand Marcos. ...

This follows the Wall Street Journal’s story last week that investigators have reviewed reports from intelligence agencies on Russian hackers discussing how to hack Clinton’s e-mails and get the material to Michael Flynn, the former national-security adviser, via an intermediary, and that Peter Smith, a longtime Republican operative, had undertaken an effort to obtain the Clinton e-mails and suggested to those around him that he was working with Flynn. The excuse the Trump Administration had for that one was that Smith “didn’t work for the campaign” and that if Flynn was working with him “in any way, it would have been in his capacity as a private individual.”

They wanted to collude with a foreign power, but it's okay, because the foreign agent didn't actually know a durn thing.

Their defense is basically "we broke into the house, but there wasn't anything valuable there, so we didn't steal anything, and that means we didn't do anything wrong". Would love it if my fellow Republicans would stop acting like this wasn't wrong, when it obviously was.

People meet. It's news. LOL
I seen a brief interview with Putin on someone he was sitting beside at a luncheon. I guess the guy was some kind of a nefarious character that Putin didn't know and never spoke to. The reporter takes an accusatory tone and Putin says, 'that's very creative, you must not have enough to do with your time'. I thought that was funny :)

This calls for a new approach:

Collusion Smollusion. What's the big deal?
Collusion could be anything from discussing bread pudding recipes to high treason. They had a conversation with a Russian Lawyer who basically had nothing of interest to say. I'm sorry...I should care about that why?

Ok so you suspect some kind of criminal intent, what law was broken exactly? Trust me, when it comes to Trump I'm always happy to jump on the bandwagon when he messes up. This is going to result in Donald Trump jr. being deposed and like so many other mistakes the Trump administration has made, it will probably come to nothing.

The timing of the emails and the meeting in conjunction with the revelations about the hacked DNC and Clinton emails is very suggestive. We may be looking at treason here, just based on Donald Jr's words. Throw in Manafort, Kelly and a few others, and our federal prisons may fill up very quickly.
