Trump's Impeachment Defense and the Facts
President Donald Trump’s lawyers opened his Senate impeachment defense Saturday with the false assertion that Democrats tried to shut the president’s team out of the congressional inquiry that preceded the charges. Actually, Democrats invited Trump to participate and he declined.

House Democrats are accusing Republicans in the Senate of holding an unfair impeachment trial. The hypocrisy couldn’t be more galling.

House Democrats held closed-door, basement hearings, refused to let White House counsel attend any hearings, and refused to disclose testimonies that didn’t fit their narrative.

On the defensive posts popping up...I suppose it's smart to get on top of damage control now before this ends badly as Dems are expecting. That way it could appear to the gullible that cheating Republicans caused their loss, when the truth is, they lost because they never had a legal case, only a case of pure vindictiveness.

Instead of helping the country, dems chose to do nothing for it, but instead put their own selfish goals ahead of America for years. Out here in real life when people do nothing, they get fired, but Dems went a step further by doing all they could to disrupt the country, and bring attention to themselves, and a cause that never existed.

There is zero defense for this type of behavior, and it shouldn't even be rewarded with a salary.

You do realize the above is pretty much an accurate description how the Republicans were for the entire 8 years of President Obama's administration, right? At the end of which they took the House, the Senate and the White House in 2016. That suddenly Republicans have a problem with the Democrats doing the exact thing that won them so much tends to ring a little...hollow. Politicians tend to not argue with success, so, let me be the first to welcome you to the world the Republican Party created.

Obama's admin was not the subject here.

When one even looks somewhat closely at this, we can see what has happened over the last few years is unrepresented, as well as appalling. I would guess all but the die hard Dems have finally realized that, and at the very least have the class to choose to just be quiet at this point..

not true. You are misinformed.
“On Nov. 29, the committee’s chairman, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., sent a letter to Trump “to determine if your counsel will seek to exercise the special privileges set forth in the Judiciary Committee’s Impeachment Procedures … and participate in the upcoming impeachment proceedings. In particular, please provide the Committee with notice of whether your counsel intends to participate, specifying which of the privileges your counsel seeks to exercise. …”

Interesting as on 31 October the House passed the procedures to conduct the Judiciary hearings and it never mentioned the President would be provided representation. Seems Nadler was trying to get a quote in the record to cover up the omission.

A quote? It’s an invitation, and it was declined.

That is interesting considering there was never a full chamber vote to proceed with impeachment. Pelosi kept it in committee for a reason.

Hmm...

Voting in the U.S. House of Representatives
Accusation Article I – abuse of power
Votes in favor 230
Votes against 197
Present 1
Not voting 3
Result Article approved; President Trump impeached
Accusation Article II – obstruction of Congress
Votes in favor 229
Votes against 198
Present 1
Not voting 3
Impeachment of Donald Trump - Wikipedia

That would be a pretty big committee...

The defense of "absolute immunity" is embarrassing, and failure to hold him accountable is treasonous.
Who has said the President has absolute immunity? What's said is that the Congress, the Legistlative Branch does not have absoulte power to bully the Executive Branch without them at least having the place to challenge the House in the Courts.

and failure to hold him accountable is treasonous

Or maybe it's treasonous for the House after the Senate decides on Trump being acquitted to keep slamming good men and woman of office who have done their best to render a right judgment to demonize them.....that in and of itself wouldn't be treasonous? The Founding Fathers set forth the necessary hurdle for President to be removed.....2/3 of the Senate. Not attaining that do you think the Founders would be on the side of ones who would demean the Senators? History shows they were not even in favour of impeachments which would non-bipartisan and that we know is sadly lacking in this present case.

Technically, to make it treasonous, you'd have to show that Trump knew of Russian efforts to make him president, or that he actively cooperated with them in their efforts to rig our elections.

So far, only circumstantial evidence.

didn’t fit their narrative.

A narrative
that has been flushed down the drain.
Will probably help Trump win again in 2020.
Thank you DNC.
Special thanks to Nancy.
