I think the op is about religious freedom. Not the typical deflecting.

Trump’s ed secretary praises admin’s work protecting freedom to ‘practice faith without fear’

Given the US Constitution deliberately chose to separate Church and State by not endorsing any particular religion, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is obligated not to promote her particular faith, at the expense of the others!

DeVos' interpretation of the 1st Amendment may appeal to Trump's conservative agenda, but it is contrary to the thoughts of the Founding Fathers who viewed organized religion as the contributing factor to centuries of European wars and conflict!

Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

I read the article that "Michie" cited which stated that DeVos wanted to repeal Title lX that prohibited federal funds being allocated to educational programs that practiced sexual discrimination!

“We are not enforcing unconstitutional prohibitions on school districts contracting with tutors, counselors or other similar secular services simply because of their religious affiliation,” DeVos says. “We took down the previous administration’s list, which publicly shamed faith-based schools for requesting assurance of an exemption from Title IX, a 1972 law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in education.

The Trump Administration, ked by Education Secretary DeVos, are actively trying to promote their conservative Christian agenda by attempting to erode the legislative safeguards, like Title lX, that separate Church and State!

Under the guise of religious freedom, they are trying to use government money to finance their religious agenda while maintaining that policies that don't allow for the public funding of programs based on a "discriminatory" interpretation of the Bible are themselves an attack on religion!
