Nearing Chrismation into the Orthodox Faith.

I grew up Southern Baptist. Got close to being agnostic for a while. Been Presbyterian (PCA) for the last 15 years or so....up until a few months ago.

My Eastern Orthodox grandparents pushed to have me in church. So my parents sent me across the alley, to a Baptist church, where I learned and memorized many Scriptures, which stayed with me. A move put me into the apostate United Church of Canada for a few years, then the Unitarian church. From there, it was an easy step to atheism, where I stayed for 10 years, till God called me back to him.

After 15 years in Pentecostal churches I realized I was not being fed, and what was going on in the churches I attended was not of the Holy Spirit. I ran to an Evangelical Free church.

Another move put me in a Baptist church, where I belong. Been in three different conventions/conferences, very much where God wants me!

Buddhist/modernist/pagan convert to orthodox Catholic Christianity after a journey which may well one day be a book. Too much to write here. But in 2004, through an amazing series of events I began my first earnest journey into Christianity, being received into the Catholic Church (Roman/Latin rite), along with my formerly atheist wife, during the Easter Vigil of 2005....14 blessed years ago. Jesus and His Church and the sacraments are the core, center, and anchor of my life since then, and I can't even imagine a return to my former self. I have found my place in the unfolding drama of salvation history, and I am permanently and thoroughly changed. Christ makes all things new. Even me..

As it says in my little info box thing by all my posts, Non-Egyptian Coptic Orthodox. Formerly Roman Catholic. I suppose even-more-formerly Presbyterian (approx. age 0-14). Was unaware of this thread until now. :)

Reformed Baptist by theology, but non-denominational by actual church membership, since I go to a non-denominational church (with Baptist theology)

Blech, that’s a lot of words. I believe Jesus saves people by grace through faith, and come from a church that believes the same. That’s what matters.

Arcangl86 here. I'm a member of the ELCA and consider myself to be firmly within the Evangelical Catholic wing of Lutheranism, with some strong sympathies to certain aspects of Eastern Christianity. Baptized and raised in the Roman Catholic Church, left as a teen, became Episcopalian (Anglo-Catholic) before ending up ELCA.
Yeah I ended up becoming Anglo-Catholic again.

Catholic Convert from nothing-ism (15 years). May I share the following resource with everyone?

YouTube - Journey Home Show–Dr. David Anders - 02-08-2010

Very interesting interview about the Bible, Martin Luther, and the Reformation. Dr. Anders did his Ph. D. studies in Reformation History. Excellent!
