Tour of your state

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking us on a tour of your state. This region seems to get a little slow and I'd like to liven it up a bit. What do you think?

Here's a small tour of my state. Maryland. Sit back and enjoy.


1. The United States Naval Academy was founded on October 10, 1845 at Annapolis
2. The first dental school in the United States opened at the University of Maryland
3. Tilghman Island is home to the Skipjacks, the only commercial sailing fleet in North America.
4. The 1,200 foot Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore is the second longest continuous truss bridge in the nation.
5. America's national anthem was written by Francis Scott Key a Maryland lawyer. It is believed Key wrote the anthem on September 14, 1818 while watching the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor.
6. The Methodist Church of America was formally organized in 1784 at Perry Hall.
7. Maryland gave up some of it's land to form Washington D.C.
8. The Maryland State House is the oldest state capitol still in continuous legislative use.
9. The National Aquarium is located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
10. In 1830 the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company built the first railroad station in Baltimore.
11. State Nickname - Old Line State

I have a Maryland state quarter! Your state was established the same year as the first white settlers came to Australia.

Have you ever seen the movie runnaway bride. Well did you know that it was filmed in a town called Berlin, Maryland. Which is right around the corner from I live right now. Here is a link to a locals website that has pictures on it. When you get to the site click (on location) too see photos. Also the movie (Tuck Everlasting) a disney film, was filmed in the same town too.

Down here in Ocean City maryland, There is a guy that makes sand sculpters of bible scences in the sand. When you are walking down the boardwalk along the beach you cant help but see one of his creations. here is his link with photos.

My daughter lives in Ocean Pines. Chincoteague is beautiful...except the skeeters.
