Is today the start of the liturgical year? So, in the BCP, would the cycle switch to cycle A and the morning and evening prayer change to year two?

Wanted to start going to church today if it was the start of the liturgical year and the start of Advent, but my step-dad bought us tickets back in May to go see the Dolphins play the Eagles in Miami. It's kinda a tradition we started back in 2011 when the Eagles (his team) would come down to Miami to play. It happens every eight years. So, no church for me today.

Yes, today is the beginning of Advent and the start of the new liturgical year. The Sunday lectionary switches to year A, and the daily readings switch to year two, as you said.

Enjoy the game. The Advent readings and hymns will still be there for you next week. :)
