the thing with goodbye threads is that it is impossible for me to believe that the writer of such threads is not going to want to go back to the forum and read the replies and who wrote them. It doesn't resonate with me that a person would write a goodbye thread, post it, and never to look at the thread ever again.

people who make goodbye threads always come back. It's the ones who don't tell anyone they are leaving who are serious about it.
