Why can't people put political stuff in the political forums?

I mean, I get that it's news and it's current, but it's still political.
Maybe they were trying to not have it be political? It seems more like a friendly gesture in support of the First Lady.

This is not political, they were showing appreciation for the first African American First Lady, that's a news item/current event, it doesn't fit in politics.

So they applauded her because she married the right guy?

She's the first lady by no other means other than who she married, so yes, it's political.

Ha ha. You keep on believing that.
Don't you have to be elected to a political office? When do we elect the President's spouse and can we choose someone other than Bill or Melania for the position? can the First Lady be recalled from her position without a divorce taking place?

I'd also like to know what political influence the First Lady has over our government.

Seriously, what exactly does she even do?

And yet it has its own office in the White House complete with staff.
I'm assuming, so does the White House chef. Not everyone that works in the White House is a politician.

Ever heard of Michelle's lunch program? How about Nancy Reagan and her famous Just Say No campaign, which sparked the War on Drugs?

The First Lady has A LOT of political pull.

It is a political office by nature because of who she's married to.

I don't want to hijack the thread with a debate about the FLOTUS though. It just belongs in the political forum.

Nancy Reagan was president!

Michelle is awesome. She has a very good manner, and a good deal of charisma. Her fitness campaigns have been really high profile, making the news outside the US.

Stop complaining, this does not belong in the political forum just because you want to make everything political. Laura Bush was not political either, if there was an article about her reading program and people thanking her for it, that would be news, not politics.
Oh I'll complain all I want, SM.

And yeah, the Laura Bush story would belong in the political forum too as far as I'm concerned. Not that you'd ever post THAT story, though...

Was there an article thanking Laura Bush? If so, it is part of the News & Current Events section, not politics.
