Hi tall,

Good question this all links back to the SHADOWS OF COLOSSIANS 2:14-17 thread linked.

.

Now to be fair t7c already knows this through personal conversation, as would BobRyan, who has been here for a long time. But I am a former Adventist. I get the Adventist teaching. But I don't get how you come to the conclusion you do on this text.

I point this out only so you don't have to go to such great lengths to spell out Adventist teaching.

You still can of course if you want to post it for others. But I wanted to be upfront on this point with you.

Why do you think Adventists are not doing much with the new moon?
Are they waiting for the priests and Levites to be brought back from the nations?

20 Then they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to the Lord out of all nations, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. 21 And I will also take some of them for priests and Levites,” says the Lord.
22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
That passage can be translated "from one month to another" which is in accordance with Rev 22:2

GENESIS 1:14-16 [14], [14], And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: [15], And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light on the earth: and it was so. [16], And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

.

Incidentally, Revelation states there will be no sun, and there will be no night. You may need to reconcile that with this text as well.

5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Glad to see you ECR.

The word can mean month. So then you think this monthly assembly was in no way referring to the new moon?

So then T7c and LGW posted all those texts about the new moon for nothing?

Perhaps you can clarify also the need for Levites, and the children dying at 100, and the people living as long as trees.

By the way, why do you think Ellen White mentioned a new moon then, as you referenced in your OP?

Ellen G. White Estate: Daily Devotional

There they will assemble in the sanctuary from Sabbath to Sabbath, from one new moon to another, to unite in loftiest strains of song, in praise and thanksgiving to Him who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb forever and ever.

And another question, how do you reconcile Ellen White's statement:

Then since the New Moons begin each new month, and in the New Heavens and New Earth, they are still for times:

Genesis 1:14 KJB - And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Genesis 1:16 KJB - And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Job 38:33 KJB - Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

Jeremiah 31:35 KJB - Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:

Jeremiah 31:36 KJB - If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

Jeremiah 33:25 KJB - Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

New Moon to Another in the New Heaven and Earth, deals with the eating from the literal Tree of Life:

Isaiah 66:22 KJB - For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Isaiah 66:23 KJB - And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

[Keep in mind that in Isaiah 56:5 KJB, the "everlasting name" given to us by God?, Here it is again as "your name remain", even as the "new heavens and the new earth", "shall remain before" God ever and always. Thus the two passages are connected, even as both mention the Sabbath of the LORD thy God, as being throughout eternity, kept by the "sons" [and "daughters"], the "disciples" of Jesus, etc.]

[Again, the words of that which is "everlasting", "remain before Me [LORD; and He, everlasting, eternal]", speaking of the "new heavens and new earth" all that which is therein. This would include the ["my", says God] Sabbath of the LORD thy God, in the very context of Isaiah 56 & 66, see Isaiah 56:2,4,6 part of the very "my [God's] covenant" [which Jesus made in the Gospels, see Isaiah 56:8; John 10:16, etc] spoken of therein, and see also Isaiah 66:23. This was previously stated in Isaiah 8:10 ["God with us"] through and unto vs 18 itself, as shown, and directly cited in Hebrews 2:9-13, etc.]
Indeed, consider:

Ezekiel 47:12 KJB - And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Revelation 2:7 KJB - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 22:2 KJB - In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:14 KJB - Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

[See also:

Isaiah 26:2 KJB - Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

Psalms 119:151 KJB - Thou [art] near, O LORD; and all thy commandments [are] truth.

Psalms 119:142 KJB - Thy righteousness [is] an everlasting righteousness, and thy law [is] the truth.

1 John 2:4 KJB - He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.]
The Tree of Life is on either side of the river of life, which comes from the throne of God, and thus as "all flesh" comes to worship before God at those set times, they shall eat from the tree of Life in the midst of the paradise of God:

Ezekiel 47:12 KJB - And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Revelation 22:1 KJB - And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Revelation 22:2 KJB - In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

The Temple is outside of the New Jersualem, since the scripture [KJB] says that there was no Temple [as Ezekiel saw] in the city, because the Father and Son are the temple of the city [Revelation 21:22 KJB], for Mt. Zion is where the Temple outside of the City will be, as New Jerusalem lands at the spot of the Mt. of Olives to the East of Mt. Zion [Zechariah 14:4 KJB]:

"... With Jesus at our head we all descended from the city down to this earth, on a great and mighty mountain, which could not bear Jesus up, and it parted asunder, and there was a mighty plain. Then we looked up [18] and saw the great city, with twelve foundations, and twelve gates, three on each side, and an angel at each gate. We all cried out, "The city, the great city, it's coming, it's coming down from God out of heaven," and it came and settled on the place where we stood. Then we began to look at the glorious things outside of the city. There I saw most glorious houses, that had the appearance of silver, supported by four pillars set with pearls most glorious to behold. These were to be inhabited by the saints. In each was a golden shelf. I saw many of the saints go into the houses, take off their glittering crowns and lay them on the shelf, then go out into the field by the houses to do something with the earth; not as we have to do with the earth here; no, no. A glorious light shone all about their heads, and they were continually shouting and offering praises to God. {EW 17.3}

I saw another field full of all kinds of flowers, and as I plucked them, I cried out, "They will never fade." Next I saw a field of tall grass, most glorious to behold; it was living green and had a reflection of silver and gold, as it waved proudly to the glory of King Jesus. Then we entered a field full of all kinds of beasts--the lion, the lamb, the leopard, and the wolf, all together in perfect union. We passed through the midst of them, and they followed on peaceably after. Then we entered a wood, not like the dark woods we have here; no, no; but light, and all over glorious; the branches of the trees moved to and fro, and we all cried out, "We will dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods." We passed through the woods, for we were on our way to Mount Zion. {EW 18.1}

As we were traveling along, we met a company who also were gazing at the glories of the place. I noticed red as a border on their garments; their crowns were brilliant; their robes were pure white. As we greeted [19] them, I asked Jesus who they were. He said they were martyrs that had been slain for Him. With them was an innumerable company of little ones; they also had a hem of red on their garments. Mount Zion was just before us, and on the mount was a glorious temple, and about it were seven other mountains, on which grew roses and lilies. And I saw the little ones climb, or, if they chose, use their little wings and fly, to the top of the mountains and pluck the never-fading flowers. There were all kinds of trees around the temple to beautify the place: the box, the pine, the fir, the oil, the myrtle, the pomegranate, and the fig tree bowed down with the weight of its timely figs--these made the place all over glorious. And as we were about to enter the holy temple, Jesus raised His lovely voice and said, "Only the 144,000 enter this place," and we shouted, "Alleluia." {EW 18.2}

This temple was supported by seven pillars, all of transparent gold, set with pearls most glorious. The wonderful things I there saw I cannot describe. Oh, that I could talk in the language of Canaan, then could I tell a little of the glory of the better world. I saw there tables of stone in which the names of the 144,000 were engraved in letters of gold. After we beheld the glory of the temple, we went out, and Jesus left us and went to the city. Soon we heard His lovely voice again, saying, "Come, My people, you have come out of great tribulation, and done My will; suffered for Me; come in to supper, for I will gird Myself, and serve you." We shouted, "Alleluia! glory!" and entered into the city. And I saw a table of pure silver; it was many miles in length, yet our eyes could extend over it. I saw the fruit of the tree of life, the manna, almonds, figs, pomegranates, grapes, and many other kinds of fruit. I asked Jesus to let me eat of the fruit. He said, "Not now. Those who eat of the fruit of this [20] land go back to earth no more. But in a little while, if faithful, you shall both eat of the fruit of the tree of life and drink of the water of the fountain." And He said, "You must go back to the earth again and relate to others what I have revealed to you." Then an angel bore me gently down to this dark world. Sometimes I think I can stay here no longer; all things of earth look so dreary. I feel very lonely here, for I have seen a better land. Oh, that I had wings like a dove, then would I fly away and be at rest! ... {EW 19.1} ..." - Early Writings (1882), pages 17.3 - 19.1

So then why do you keep pointing to the text in Isaiah that says we will assemble for the new moon and for Sabbath if you do not in fact assemble for the new moon but celebrate it as a completed work in Christ?

23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

Well that is an easy question. The Sabbath will be kept in the New EARTH and so will God's Calander. God wants us all to gather together with him at the beginning of each month in the New earth. How great is that. After all the new Moon is also an ordinance forever as it is appointed for signs and seasons (Genesis 1:14-19).

Incidentally, Revelation states there will be no sun, and there will be no night. You may need to reconcile that with this text as well.

5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Well that is easy. Is everything in the book of revelations literal? Does a beast represent a beast? Is a dragon a dragon? Does the harlot represent a harlot? Does Babylon represent the country? Is a lamb a lamb? Who is the bride? You may need to be careful now with literal interpretations from the book of symbols in Revelation.

What are the symbolic meanings for light according to God's WORD?

JOHN 8:12 [12], I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

JOHN 3:19-21 [19], And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
[20] For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. [21] But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are worked in God.

JOHN 9:5 [5], As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

JOHN 12:36 [36], While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light. These things spoke Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

JOHN 12:46[46], I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide in darkness.

2 CORINTHIANS 4:4 [4], In whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

EPHESIANS 5:8 [8], For you were once darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light.

2 TIMOTHY 1:10[10], But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

1 PETER 2:9 [9], But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

2 PETER 1:19 [19], We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

1 JOHN 1:5 [5], This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

1 JOHN 1:7 [7], But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.

MATTHEW 5:14 [14], You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Now is the book of Revelations talking about literal light and sun or is it talking about the truth and life of God's WORD?

Hope this helps

Oh yes, I am aware of Ellen White's comments. Let's compare:

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of lif
e.

and

Mount Zion was just before us, and on the mount was a glorious temple, and about it were seven other mountains, on which grew roses and lilies.

So the Scriptures have the kings of the nations coming to gather in the city where the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are, and there is no need for a temple.

But Ellen White has a temple, and it is outside the city.

In the city [New Jerusalem, where God's Throne is], no need of the "light" of moon or Sun, since the glory of God shineth in the city, yet outside of the city is different, and there is still time in Heaven [see Job 1:6, 2:1 KJB, etc], from day to day, as eternity rolls:

Isaiah 24:23 KJB - Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

Revelation 21:23 KJB - And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Revelation 22:5 KJB - And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Yet the sun and moon remain in the New Heavens and New Earth, for outside of the city as light, etc:

Isaiah 66:22 KJB - For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Isaiah 66:23 KJB - And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Month is determined by the ordinance of the moon, and the days of the week by the ordinance of the sun:

Scripture [KJB] delineates when the Day [time] ends and when the Night [time] begins, and what constitutes a standard [whole] Day [Genesis 1:5,8,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,23,31, 15:12,17; Exodus 17:12; Deuteronomy 16:4,6,7; Joshua 10:26,27; Judges 19:9,25; 1 Kings 22:35,36; 2 Chronicles 18:34; Job 38:12; Psalms 104:19,20,21,22,23; Daniel 6:14,18,19; Malachi 4:2; Mark 1:32,78; Luke 1:79; John 1:1-18, 3:19,20,21, 8:12, 11:9,10, 12:46; 2 Corinthians 4:4,5,6; 1 John 1:5, etc. KJB].

Psalms 104:19 KJB - He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.

Psalms 104:19 is a text which delineates the following passages to come, by mentioning both the [1] Moon, and then [2] the Sun, and then in the immediate context [Psalms 104] itself, the very next two passages deal with the Night-time, wherein the [1] Moon would “rule”, and is for the “seasons” or “appointed times” then referenced, being for those animals and plants of the night:

Psalms 104:20 KJB - Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.

Psalms 104:21 KJB - “The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.

And then the text switches to the other Ordinance of Heaven, [2] that “greater light”, being the Sun, now “rules”, in its “appointed times” or “seasons”, and in this instance, it also references mankind, whereas the Moon passages has not done so:

Psalms 104:22 KJB - The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.

Psalms 104:23 KJB - Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
In New Heaven and New Earth:

Isaiah 30:26 KJB - Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

So the new moon is an ordinance forever, that you are not celebrating currently as it is fulfilled in Christ.

Why does that sound very familiar?

Temple [Mt. Zion] and City [New Jerusalem, Mt. of Olives], two places for gathering, even as there are from one sabbath to another [Temple], and from one new moon to another [eating of the tree of life which is in the midst of the Garden of the Paradise of God, in the City].

The nations go into it, to His throne.

24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

They come to assemble before God's throne, which is with the tree, in the city.

22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

They go outside to look at the dead bodies:

24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

It does not say they go out of the city to a special temple where God is at...because it says where He is at, and there is no need of a temple because He is there.

Maybe because it is God's WORD :).

Of course it is forever it is a sign for seasons and times and will be kept in the New Earth along with the Sabbath (Genesis 1:13-19; Isaiah 66:23).

So they go to the city--where there is no moon--to celebrate the new moon--but not by celebrating the new moon, rather by eating the fruit?

The Temple is outside of the New Jersualem, since the scripture [KJB] says that there was no Temple [as Ezekiel saw] in the city, because the Father and Son are the temple of the city [Revelation 21:22 KJB], for Mt. Zion is where the Temple outside of the City will be, as New Jerusalem lands at the spot of the Mt. of Olives to the East of Mt. Zion [Zechariah 14:4 KJB]:

"... With Jesus at our head we all descended from the city down to this earth, on a great and mighty mountain, which could not bear Jesus up, and it parted asunder, and there was a mighty plain. Then we looked up [18] and saw the great city, with twelve foundations, and twelve gates, three on each side, and an angel at each gate. We all cried out, "The city, the great city, it's coming, it's coming down from God out of heaven," and it came and settled on the place where we stood. Then we began to look at the glorious things outside of the city. There I saw most glorious houses, that had the appearance of silver, supported by four pillars set with pearls most glorious to behold. These were to be inhabited by the saints. In each was a golden shelf. I saw many of the saints go into the houses, take off their glittering crowns and lay them on the shelf, then go out into the field by the houses to do something with the earth; not as we have to do with the earth here; no, no. A glorious light shone all about their heads, and they were continually shouting and offering praises to God. {EW 17.3}

I saw another field full of all kinds of flowers, and as I plucked them, I cried out, "They will never fade." Next I saw a field of tall grass, most glorious to behold; it was living green and had a reflection of silver and gold, as it waved proudly to the glory of King Jesus. Then we entered a field full of all kinds of beasts--the lion, the lamb, the leopard, and the wolf, all together in perfect union. We passed through the midst of them, and they followed on peaceably after. Then we entered a wood, not like the dark woods we have here; no, no; but light, and all over glorious; the branches of the trees moved to and fro, and we all cried out, "We will dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods." We passed through the woods, for we were on our way to Mount Zion. {EW 18.1}

As we were traveling along, we met a company who also were gazing at the glories of the place. I noticed red as a border on their garments; their crowns were brilliant; their robes were pure white. As we greeted [19] them, I asked Jesus who they were. He said they were martyrs that had been slain for Him. With them was an innumerable company of little ones; they also had a hem of red on their garments. Mount Zion was just before us, and on the mount was a glorious temple, and about it were seven other mountains, on which grew roses and lilies. And I saw the little ones climb, or, if they chose, use their little wings and fly, to the top of the mountains and pluck the never-fading flowers. There were all kinds of trees around the temple to beautify the place: the box, the pine, the fir, the oil, the myrtle, the pomegranate, and the fig tree bowed down with the weight of its timely figs--these made the place all over glorious. And as we were about to enter the holy temple, Jesus raised His lovely voice and said, "Only the 144,000 enter this place," and we shouted, "Alleluia." {EW 18.2}

So even though it clearly says that God's throne is in the city...the temple is elsewhere? What did you think the temple represented?

Revelation says no temple in the city because the Lor d God almighty and the Lamb are there.

You have a funny temple with no God almighty, no Lamb, no nations, and a bunch of dead bodies of offenders out there.

And why do you say this? Because Ellen White said it.
