I wonder who will get Person of the Year? There would seem to be no clear choice.

uhmmm...ok, so does this mean he can now trot out that fake time magazine cover he had hanging in his golf club until he got caught and had to take it down?
tulc(is going with "No, it's President Trump that's actually lying...like he does so often")

I guess if it's important enough for President Trump to lie about, isn't it important enough to point out he's doing so?

Well at least he hasn't made up more fake magazine covers to hang up of himself. This man loves to brag about how smart he is but he's not even able to figure out that a lie like that, it's totally obvious & will be caught lickety split. I guess he's just counting on his base believing whatever lies he tells.

The media lies WAY more than Trump does. I understand why you don't like Trump, but I don't get the unwavering trust in the media.

Got any evidence of that, Saucy? Do you think Time was also lying about this?
Time magazine asks Trump to remove fake covers from display at golf clubs

LOL! This post is totally backwards, Saucy. For one, it's foolish to say that folks who have called Trump out on this latest whopper of his have unwavering trust in the media. That's just silly nonsense. All you need is to use some good sense. Has Time ever had the same person as the person of the year back-to-back? Trump lies constantly, often for dumb, childish reasons, when there's no reason in the world to lie. This is an example. It was all about stroking his ego. The issue is the with the folks who have unwavering trust in Trump, believe whatever he says is true no matter how false it is. It's like that fellow who said if Jesus came down from the cross & said something that contradicted what Trump said, he'd believe Trump.

I wouldn't go that far. The point I was trying to make is, you don't know who was telling the truth. I know Trump WAS in the running for person of the year. I know he WAS one of the top contenders. So, it's very possible he was in the running and that he did get that phone call. Either way, you, nor anyone, can prove Trump lied about this anymore than you can prove Time is telling the truth.

Just tired of crap like this being news. You guys jumped to call Trump a liar (with no evidence whatsoever that he lied about this) than anyone jumped to defend Trump. I don't know if he was lying or not.

Can you post your proof he's was in the running?

I'm not sure why you're having a problem with this: President Trump is the one who made it news, Time didn't post anything about it until President Trump said something, then they just corrected what he said. If anyone is to blame for making "this crap news" look no further then the White House "tweeter in chief".
tulc(just thought that should be pointed out) :sorry:

Relevant to this case ; we know he has lied before by faking those Time covers among other things so his credibility here is nonexistent.

We have no proof of Time lying since they understand far better than POTUS why it is stupid to do so when you can be fact checked and called liar with minimal research.

Time Mag gathers potential names, contacts the names on their short list to see if they would agree to photos and interview, from those that agree, the editors make the selection, before the name is publicly announced by the mag. and the mag printed and sold. IF a person does not agree, they are no longer in consideration.

The same happened in 2004, when both Michael Moore and Mel Gibson agreed to share the "person of the year", where by both had to agree to an interview and photos. Mel changed his mind, thus neither were interviewed or photographed or were on the cover of the mag.

The point of the mag to make that particular issue ie "person of the year", necessarily requires the person selected to agree to be interviewed and photo shoot. Of course they contact the potential persons ahead of time to see IF they would agree to the photo shoot and interview.

Rarely, if ever, is a US President not on the list of names to consider. And of course they would require him to agree to participating in the interview and photo shoot.
Trump knows the routine, and wasn't interested this year to be considered.

    What is the big deal?

    That he was NOT contacted?

    Article;
    "Time Magazine called"...Trump said

"Later Friday evening, Time disputed the president's claim, tweeting that he "is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year."

Where is the President "tweet" of "HOW a person is chosen"?

What the President said is that he was called, and was not interested.

Where is the President "tweet" of "HOW a person is chosen"?

It is not a mystery - a person is chosen by the editors of Time Magazine.
And the person selected has to agree to the terms.....a photo shoot and interview.

Where is the President "tweet" of "HOW a person is chosen"?

What does ANY photo of Trump in "his" clubs, office, home, or otherwise, have to do with you?

And when did he "trot out"... print, manufacture, or sell any such magazines?

And by the way - Time "asked" the Trump organization to take down from public view, the covers that were not created by the Magazine, but that were created for Trump.

Lots of people create magazine and product covers with personal family photos, for their own enjoyment. How does that make make a person lying?

If you put your kids photo on the front of a Wheaties Cereal box, would that make you a liar?

    Funny.

The President is a pathological liar. His narcassism is so pervasive that he doesn't even know what reality is anymore. The sad thing is this should have been obvious to any sane and/or educated person.

Racism and jingoism prevailed last November and we got a lunatic. We are worse than the Germans under the Nazis because they at least didn't elect Hitler and he came to power in the more dire of circumstances. When God judges the nations I hope I get a pass on this one. I take Trump voters about as seriously as flat Earth theorists, trickle-down believers, global warming deniers and I consider them all worse than holocaust deniers.

Trump craves attention like children crave ice cream and his self esteem seems to be directly tied to how many people flatter him any given day.

So hearing him say he isn’t interested is patently and laughably false.

Only reason for him not to do anything in his power to get the nomination is his fear for a slight to his massive ego and dim understanding that he will never get elected by the organization whose products he falsified so he will just have to pretend he wasn’t interested in the first place.

This isn’t a big deal. Nothing so far in Trump administration has been and nothing probably will be. Just another corrupted thin skinned old man living in his own delusions.

Printing his own face for cover of fake newspapers. Kind of says it all.

I find it hilarious people want to know all about Trump, and when he tells all, people use the knowledge to make him so bad, while inferring they are so good!

Don't be jealous of others who provide for their own, and are accountable for what they do.
It would be refreshing if more Americans provided for their own and accountable for what they do.

How many millions of jobs have you personally provided for needy people?
How many millions of dollars have you personally provided to aid others?

If you had a sense of humor you could do the same, many do.

Point is - Trump said he was called. No one proved otherwise.

Point is - Trump made NO CLAIM of HOW a potential candidate is selected to be on the cover of Time mag.

Point is - Time made a comment -

Later Friday evening, Time disputed the president's claim, tweeting that he "is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year."

In order for the President to be "incorrect" about HOW Time chooses Person of the Year.........Trump would have HAD TO SAID "HOW Time chooses Person of the Year".

WHERE IS TRUMP"S conveniently missing COMMENT saying HOW Time chooses Person of the Year?

    AGAIN....
