Thy Name is an ointment poured forth; therefore do the virgins love Thee. Draw me; we will run after Thee. Song of Songs 1:3-4

    Name = Life = Bridegroom
Ointment = eye salve = wise virgins (5)

    My soul magnifies the Lord.

They love Him first of all for all the joy and hope that He gives them. They love Him as the Giver of the gifts and knowledge obtained. But the soul of the heavenly visionary longs for a deeper drawing into the Divine Wisdom.

The surrendered soul knows too that the work is His by the Spirit. “We will run after Thee” Her part is in the will alone. An abandonment to the skillfulness of His hands and response to His drawing.

Draw me, we will run after thee: the King hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in Thee, we will remember Thy love more than wine: the upright love Thee.

    Psalms 100

100 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

    Galatians 4:1-5
My point is this: heirs, as long as they are minors, are no better than slaves, though they are the owners of all the property; 2 but they remain under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. 3 So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the elemental spirits of the world. 4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive the full rights of sonship.

The one receiving the huiothesia was already the child of the father.

    Strong's #5206: huiothesia (pronounced hwee-oth-es-ee'-ah)
from a presumed compound of 5207 and a derivative of 5087; the placing as a son, i.e. adoption (figuratively, Christian sonship in respect to God):--adoption (of children, of sons).
    1) adoption, adoption as sons
1a) that relationship which God was pleased to establish between himself and the Israelites in preference to all other nations
1b) the nature and condition of the true disciples in Christ, who by receiving the Spirit of God into their souls become sons of God
1c) the blessed state looked for in the future life after the visible return of Christ from heaven

    Romans 8:23
And even we Christians, although we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, also groan to be released from pain and suffering. We, too, wait anxiously for that day when God will give us our full rights as his children [ huiothesia ], including the new bodies he has promised us.”

The flesh also will be redeemed, has been bought with a price, by our Kinsman Redeemer. He it is that holds our share. The Great High Priest who’s standing in God is that of our own Apostle.

    Hebrews 3:1
Therefore, brothers and sisters, holy partners in a heavenly calling, consider that Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,

Greater than the Levi who had no inheritance is Melchezedec

Jos 13:14 But to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance, since the offerings made by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he promised them.
God’s begotten are His children, not just Jesus. He reckons us as already having reached maturity—considering us beyond the status of being as slaves . Yet the fullness of our coming of age is yet future—at the time of “the revealing of the sons of God” in the resurrection.

    Romans 8:19
    For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God;

    False Asceticism

    Daniel 11:35
And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

    1 Timothy 4:1-2
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will renounce the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared with a hot iron.

    1 Peter 4:17-18
For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; if it begins with us, what will be the end for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinners?”

His Holiness is fully displayed in His love, a forgiving love in the presence of chastisement, grace’s reign in holiness and righteousness.

His praise is on the lips of those within whom He dwells, the thankful approach to the practical life, the life of the believer is praise!

    Hebrews 13:15-16
Through Him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess His Name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Jehovah is good, His loving kindness is forever; and His truth endures forever.

    Psalm 119:68
    You are good and do good;
    teach me Your statutes.

    God’s plan.

Spiritual birth or what is sometimes called 'born again' like Nicodemus was informed by Jesus. Like Nicodemus we must ask “must I return to my mother’s womb?” In a sense yes. To receive the salvation of the soul.

This present life is our own incubation time in which the Lord is forming our souls to be a fit companion for Him. Gaining the world is a forfeiting of the soul but in forfeiting ourselves we gain a glorious eternity sculpted by God Himself.

The glory of the Lord is in redeeming us bodily. As a Body and as His Bride.

We’re all familiar with the term ‘pick up your cross’ yet it seems to me that people take that to mean baptismal death, having no idea what death to self means. Most people fragment the dialog of Jesus and toss bits and pieces about to fall into different fragments of scripture to form certain dogmas. And well they are bits and pieces that make up the whole. But first one must know what the complete message is. ‘The Cross and Self-Denial’

    Matthew 16:24-28 NRSV
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life?
For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done. Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

    Mark 8:34-38
He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it. For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? Indeed, what can they give in return for their life? Those who are ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of them the Son of Man will also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

    Luke 9:23-27
Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it. What does it profit them if they gain the whole world, but lose or forfeit themselves? Those who are ashamed of me and of my words, of them the Son of Man will be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. But truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”

Effectually He was saying that IF ANY are willing to be crucified with Him those are considered His followers/disciples. He is the gate but the inscription above the gate says “No cross, no entry” And it was in a conversation to the crowds rather than disciples only so we can know that to was for everyone.

Then He gave 3 reasons that would serve their self-interest to entice their obedience.

Firstly He says that whosoever were to give up their pleasant natural life would receive the paradox of the spiritual life of the renewed soul. Whoever will make their aim in life to preserve their worldly pleasures will lose the higher calling of oneness with Christ in this life. The higher calling is for those who press on, not falling back to a darkened mindset. Hebrews 12:1-2, Ephesians 4:17-18

The profit: 30 pieces of silver, the price of a slave, a place in the Potter’s field. From a slave to a Friend. The soul is too dear a price to pay for the world. Richer by far is the contented heart within the field of work that the Lord has placed you at the moment in the journey within His abode. Virtues are stimulated in the Hope set before them. Heroes ride on Hope in their dreams while focused on His Presence during the day.

His rewards are with Him at His return. For the suffering that fertilizes the heart’s growth. For enduring the cross and despising the shame wherefore He is not ashamed of those who are not ashamed of Him or His words in this adulterous and sinful generation.

Like Mr. Rodgers said to the neighbours , look for the helpers in the world, the cheerful helpful ones, rather than the vain prattlers of virtuous clouds that refresheth not.
