This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Matthew 1:18-23

Three favourite board or family games to play with friends and family at Christmas time?

We tend to just play one game. I don't know what it's called, so I will call it Who Am I? We decide on a category, let's say famous singers. We each write a singer's name down on a slip of paper, fold it and hand it on to the person next to us. They hold it up on their forehead for a minute without looking, so everyone else can read it. Each person then has a turn at asking questions designed to figure out which singer is written on their own slip of paper. If you get a yes in response, you have another turn. If it's no, it's the next person's turn. It can be very tricky sometimes. There are so many singers and actors, after all. We all enjoy it and so it's our family go-to game.

Watching 'Carols from Kings'.
Looking at the stars about midnight, if it's clear, and singing Christmas carols remembering the star over Bethlehem.
