Don't know where I stumbled on to this video but this is amazing. How was he so aware of the things to come and what needs to be done to correct it now that they have happened?

Great video:

He was “so aware” of these things, because they’re not new, nor is the rhetoric opposing them. John Birchers started taking over the Republican party a long time ago.

What I was surprised about was that what he said was true. The agenda of the government plus the ways in which the problems in most democratic countries could be fixed.. and this was years ago.

Much of what he said isn't true. Much of what he's rebelling against is not new policy- it's been around at least since the early-mid 20th century and the same crowd has been making the some complaints about it the whole time. Not to be rude, but it only sounds revelatory to conservatives to don't know much about history.

So, now you are determining that I am a "conservative"?

This is not "partisan". These are simple facts. Bloated government, high taxes, growing deficit despite the high taxes, Paying for a military that is deployed in masses to countries all over the world........

What civilian out there does not think that the government is inefficient and bloated? Or, wonder where all that tax money has gone... Or, wonder why we went off the gold standard, print money at will, drive down the value of the dollar, inflate the economy, keep the taxes high.. and get nowhere?

That's typically the crowd who find John Birch Society rhetoric appealing.

This is not "partisan". These are simple facts.

If you say so.

Many people are woefully ignorant of a lot of things. Their ignorance does not mean those policies were misguided or without merit.

So, you don't think taxes are too high? That the government is bloated? That government spending is out of control? That going off the gold standard was a mistake? That despite higher and higher taxes... nothing is being accomplished? Really?

You do realize that the USA is practically bankrupt and so deep in debt that you are never getting out, right?
You do realize that the middle class is disappearing... right?

No.

That the government is bloated?

Depends. Some departments probably are; others are underresourced; others are probably just right.

That government spending is out of control?

There are places to make improvements, but in the aggregate, no.

That going off the gold standard was a mistake?

Absolutely not. That’s some wackadoo nonsense.

That despite higher and higher taxes... nothing is being accomplished?
Show me that our taxes really are getting “higher and higher”.

You do realize that the USA is practically bankrupt and so deep in debt that you are never getting out, right?

No, not at all.

You do realize that the middle class is disappearing... right?

Sure, but not for any of the reasons you’ve laid out.

Then why is it that my grandfather's generation built all the roads, highways, bridges and subways..... with less population, no income tax and parents who could raise their families on one income....

BUT..now we cannot even afford to EVEN maintain this infrastructure... it puts us in debt to make new infrastructure.. and it takes dual income to just make ends meet? All this with much higher populations and all of them working......and... income tax.....

Which generation was this? Permanent income tax has existed since 1913. Most of that stuff was built after WW1.

And we paid for that stuff with debt.

BUT..now we cannot even afford to EVEN maintain this infrastructure...

Well, we could if people didn’t have such a hatred of taxes.

it puts us in debt to make new infrastructure..

That’s always been the case. But it’s also much more expensive to build things now than it used to be.

and it takes dual income to just make ends meet? All this with much higher populations and all of them working......and... income tax.....

Real estate, education, and health care costs have all outpaced inflation. Decent wages now require more education than they used to. And a bigger population depresses wages, particularly when combined with greater industrial efficiency.

But that has little to do with your other complaints.
