Think only right! Don’t twist the way that Jesus put before you to get rid of some nemesis.

• “The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.” (Pro 12:5).

When the wicked partake in a counsel, they only plan on getting better of other people:

• “cast in your lot among us, and let us have one purse.” (Pro 1:14).

They only get together to the evil:

• “who devised evil things in the heart; they are always gathered for war.” (Psa 140:2).

What Micah saw, we are going through today:

• “The pious has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among men. For they all lie in wait for blood; each one hunts his brother with a net. Both hands are on evil, to do it well. The ruler asks for a bribe, and the judge also; and the great man speaks the evil desire of his soul. So they weave it together. The best of them is like a briar; the most upright is sharper than a hedge of thorns. The day of your watchmen and your punishment comes; now their shame shall come.” (Mic 7:2-4).

Behold the strategy used by the wicked to coax people:

• “They speak vanity each one with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.” (Psa 12:2)

And the reason for all this can be seen in the continuation of the Psalm:

• “that has said, with our tongue we shall do much; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?” (Psa 12:4).

Certainly, we will be better off if we, instead of we use the friendship of the wicked to get free of the aftermaths of our sin, we learn to get pleasure in Jesus’ law:

• “Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is only in the Law of Jehovah; and in His Law he meditates day and night.” (Psa 1:1,2).

I know that the discipline of Jesus’ word is difficult, but guide us to be elated together with other people. The counsel of the wicked only make us alone or with shallow and hollow friendship.

And the motive is simple: the joy of the wicked is based only on their conquest over other people. While the happiness of Jesus’ believer is to help people, the wicked only relish when they surmount people around them, get some advantage over them.

So, have a joyful day making of Jesus’ happiness, your food and strength (see John 4:34; Nehemiah 8:10) and, certainly, you will reap all true mirth that you sow in Christ (Galatians 6:7-9).
