Amazingly, this article actually affirmatively states that this skeleton is not a "missing link" in the human evolutionary chain, and explains why the use of that term is meaningless:

"The discovery has little bearing on a separate paleontological debate centering on the identity of a common ancestor of chimps and humans, which could have lived about six million years ago and still hasn't been found.
That gap in the evolution story is colloquially referred to as the "missing link" controversy.
In reality, though, all gaps in the fossil record are technically "missing links" until filled in, and many scientists say the term is meaningless."

Why let little things like facts get in the way of first pretending that there is some important "missing link," then trying to make fun of the false idea that a missing link has been found? That's really par for the course for creationsts.

Whatever they find, that's only going to add two more 'gaps' on either side, to be filled by later specimens. The whole idea of a 'missing link' ignores the way Evolution is purported to work. Be that as it may, it's generally accepted by anybody with anything close to expertise in the field that evolution is a fact.

Notice the ONLY people denying the reality of evolution are doing it for religious reasons or money (I know of one atheist who sure does enjoy cashing those fat Discovery Institute checks). If evolution never happened then make sure you inform your doctor that you don't want anything that relied on the theory for your treatment. You options will be VERY limited and you will have about as much luck as the Africans who think they can "pray" AIDS away.

Wow, are you guys Christians? ...or anti-christians?

Do you believe Genesis where it says that GOD CREATED animals and humans?..or have you blown off Genesis as a myth?

Check the Icon, if it states Christian, then they're Christian, and to question it is against forum rules.

You don't have to be ignorant of science to be a Christian. If you really want to believe that the OT is 100% literal then please let me know how much your father wants for you and if he will accept paypal. Also be sure to toss out all your poly/cotton blends and load up on ammo this weekend to take potshots at all the sinners who work on the sabbath.

Some scientists seem so desperate these days. Maybe the resurgence of religion and faith has something to do with it. However, why is it that only one fossil remains have so far been found as it was discovered some 20 years ago and has been kept in a private collection until now? Why haven't more been found to compare against or to prove beyond doubt their abilities? Unlike the "Hobbit" remains found in Indonesia many of these "exciting finds" are a singular discovery. Could it be a put-up job as Piltdown Man was?

Many, many, many, many, many discoveries have been made in the last 20 years that fit perfectly into the evolutionary model. Do you find it at all odd that the only people questioning the evolutionary model are Christian and Muslim creationist?

I don't think that accepting evolution and believing in Christ as our savior and the sustainer of all God's creation are in any way exclusive. And I don't think that choosing not to literally interpret the early chapters of Genesis in any way takes away from the great spiritual truths God is trying to teach us through them.
