There is a Fine Line Between Knowledge and Gnosticism.

1 Timothy 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Matthew 7:15-20
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

John 10:2-3

2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

Is there a difference in English between "Gnosticism" and "Gnosis"? There are both words in German (Gnostizismus and Gnosis) but they mean different things. I would tend to agree if you meant gnosis and not gnosticism.

The line between knowledge and gnosis is not that fine actually. When we talk about the Bible then "knowledge" is knowing Bible verses and Biblical truths, while "gnosis" is needed to connect all the knowledge, creating an overall picture of "God and the world". Knowledge is patchwork, gnosis leads to a whole.

Define what you mean by Gnosticism

Human attempts to understand the scripture(2 Timothy 3:16-17) through the carnal mind are exposed by their fruit(Matthew 7:15-20): enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, etc. (1 Corinthians 3:3, Romans 8:4-8, Galatians 5:19-21); They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him(Titus 1:9-16).

"Gnosticism was perhaps the most dangerous heresy that threatened the early church during the first three centuries. Influenced by such philosophers as Plato, Gnosticism is based on two false premises. First, it espouses a dualism regarding spirit and matter. Gnostics assert that matter is inherently evil and spirit is good. As a result of this presupposition, Gnostics believe anything done in the body, even the grossest sin, has no meaning because real life exists in the spirit realm only.

Second, Gnostics claim to possess an elevated knowledge, a “higher truth” known only to a certain few. Gnosticism comes from the Greek word gnosis which means “to know.” Gnostics claim to possess a higher knowledge, not from the Bible, but acquired on some mystical higher plane of existence. Gnostics see themselves as a privileged class elevated above everybody else by their higher, deeper knowledge of God." What is Christian Gnosticism? | GotQuestions.org
