From the "Old dynasties are dead", files: There’s No Going Back To ‘Normal’ After Trump. The Republican Party Is Changed Forever

Donald Trump is not a Republican. He never was before, and he is not one now.
...
In 2016, Trump hijacked the Republican Party. Although he was billed as Republican, the support propelling him to victory was a new configuration of the electorate. Many mainstream Republicans still don’t understand this, but no other GOP candidate was going to win in 2016. Trump won because he was not actually a Republican.

Both the Republican and the Democratic parties are in the midst of internal civil wars. The extreme left wing of the Democratic Party is hurtling toward socialism and the destruction not only of statues but of American values and the fundamental principles of this country.
...
What all Republicans need to realize is that the party, as it was, is dead. Its leaders lost the GOP’s soul by following globalist policies and pursuing their personal wealth at the expense of the American people.

While those Republicans were busy chasing their own interests and melding into a ruling elite in Washington, the country, and indeed the world, changed. What has come to be in the GOP’s stead, and what will continue to develop, is a new party. Trump is not a fluke president. He unified a movement and formed a new party that will continue on, even after he leaves office.
...
Be wary of the negative assaults of otherwise “good” Republicans, and don’t let them dissuade you. When the chaos of this current realignment settles, it will be clear that they aren’t in our party. Their party failed. Ours is going to lead America back to prosperity and encourage a global movement toward national sovereignty and freedom

I voted for him hoping he would disrupt the system. Myself I'm tired of politics as usual. The hill is full of lifetime politicians that have completely ruined this country for their own gain. It will take a long time to fix our government. Trump hopefully started the ball rolling.

For years people have said they wished a third-party candidate from outside the system would arise and change things. We have that candidate. He was wise enough to see that he had to work from within the system in order to change the system. But he is not of the system. Still so many people do not appreciate what he's doing. His tweets!

There was a need for a shake up of sorts.

Both parties have been slowly sliding left since the 60's.
And part of the problem is the people.
People want to be special...always wanting more. Instead of the ability to earn more they want it to be handed to them free from personal responsibility.
These notions of "I deserve more than..." is pervasive in american society. And they expect that the government should give it to them in some fashion...or at least grease the skids to the point of them just having to pick up the money.

As we approach Thanksgiving it is important to note that socialism was tried by the Pilgrims. It failed. So many people starved to death and froze to death. It wasn't until they assigned individual plots of land that you ",lived or died" by the produce grown that there was such an overabundance they invited the local Indians for a"free meal"... calling it Thanksgiving.

Ah yes, the old 'Listen to what I'm saying, but don't look at what I'm doing". The GOP's leaders are still "following globalist policies and pursuing their personal wealth at the expense of the American people", they've just thrown a few stale morsels towards certain populist movements.

Good. It's changing the GOP for the better. We need true leaders who are willing to deregulate and reduce the size of federal gov unapologetically and in the face of massive resistance.

All Trump has done is to launch an attack on the regulatory state and liberal democratic values, which are not good things. All for some hollow populism that hasn't materially improved anyones life.

I've wanted a third party candidate for a long time. I am aware that both parties are rife with corruption.

However, the person to clean that up (i.e. drain the swamp!) isn't someone who is blatantly more dishonest and more corrupt that establishment politicians.

If the problem plaguing a town is band of thieves are stealing their goods and valuables, the solution isn't to get a different band of thieves to take over their thievery ring; it's getting a sheriff to address the problem.
